Introduction

My Tarot Tuesday Twosome takes two cards and explains what they suggest about the present and immediate future. Two cards can show point / counter-point situations. They can show a situation and further details to consider. They can indicate the present situation ... and the near future or the next step in the progression.

They give literally twice as much information as the familiar One-Card Reading, and I have found them to be surprisingly prescient in my practice with them. So, I decided to bring them here to my Steemit blog -- to show you what I mean and invite you to consider their weekly message / prediction ... and step into a more conscious life.

9 of Cups = appreciation for everything you have ---> enjoying life's pleasures ---> being emotionally fulfilled, content & happy

The Magician Rx = dishonesty, lack of logic, lack of focus and clarity, misinformation, "fake news," lying, trickery, manipulation, "blowing smoke," failing to speak up (or speak out!)

What are these cards saying?

Oh, Lord, how I love it (sarcasm alert) when the cards are this open to interpretation, especially given the bollixed-up emotional situation we all seem to be in. Here we have one of the cards of maximum satisfaction -- one of the happiest in the deck, paired up with a Major Arcana symbol for deceit, lying, lack of logic, lack of candor, failure to think straight -- or to be honest in what you say. (Ok. Deep breath. Deep breath.)

Is your "happiness" somehow based on dishonesty, a failure to acknowledge the truth, flawed information? Are you (and I and everyone reading this) basically lying to yourself and the world by insisting everything's peachy when it's demonstrably not? How do "happiness" and faulty logic / deceit combine in this message?

The Magician is a powerful archetype ... one of the foundation cards in the Tarot. He is able to literally speak reality into existence with his words and ideas. Hence the essential requirement for clarity and candor. When The Magician is crippled (or mute) it's actually a form of insanity. You don't have your facts straight. You aren't acknowledging important truths. You're missing vital information. You're distorting reality and behaving as if this version is genuine. We can all imagine that no good comes of this.

Does this resonate? Maybe. Maybe not. What else could the impeded Magician stand for?

It could show a failure to hear or be heard, trouble getting your ideas across, having information but no way to share it. It could also show ideas or thoughts you don't recognize consciously -- or don't dare examine. Things you're forbidden to think or say -- for whatever reasons. I could also argue that it shows you don't know what to think at this point. Perhaps you have, so far, failed to ask openly for what you want (or make plans to pursue it) because you don't honest-to-goodness know what that is!

Maybe you don't have all the information you need. Maybe you haven't thought things through well enough. Maybe you can't yet define your objectives for yourself -- and if so, no wonder you're having trouble getting there. They say defining a problem -- giving it a name, putting words around it, etc. -- goes a long way to solving it. As long as it's nebulous and "out there" like some floating miasma ... it's hard to attack it. You could say the same about goals. If you don't have a target, it's hard to aim for it.

Are you redefining happiness? Do you need to listen better and be straight with yourself? The happiness exists. It's the reversed Magician who needs attention.

Something in these suggestions should stand out for you. What does the reversed Magician mean in your situation? What you want, of course, is the state of happiness strong and proud and the ability to think clearly, speak your truth, be heard and respected and be in synch with reality. What does it take to do that?

Sit down. Gather your thoughts. Pull up a clean computer window -- and ask yourself ... What does happiness mean to you? What would it look like if it showed up?

Listen for answers and start writing.

  • What do you need to ask for straight out that hasn't been given a voice yet?
  • What lies are you buying into -- or telling yourself?
  • What facts and information are you missing -- or denying ... or failing to take into account?
  • What do you need to admit -- or understand differently?
  • What are you afraid to think ... or say ... or admit?
  • How are you not acting / thinking / speaking rationally ... or honestly ... or openly?

Somewhere in this essay are questions you need to ask -- and answers you need to find. Start with the suggestions I've made -- and see what comes up.
