[Translation][Spanish] OroCRM (1040 words) (Part 6)
OroCRM´s Github Repository
Project Details
OroCRM is an Open-Source Customer Relationship Management Software.
OroCRM allows you to create a 360° view of your customers across multiple channels, organize the sales pipeline, manage account and contact information, communicate with customers, run marketing campaigns and track campaign performance.
Contribution Specifications
OroCRM is currently being translated into more than 35 languages, I contributed to making the OroCRM project accessible to Colombia's Spanish speaking community online.
I was assigned to translate this project into Spanish (Colombia). There is also the Spanish (General) section on the project's Crowdin, along with Spanish (Argentina) and Spanish (Mexico).
Translation Overview
This project's niche has to do with e-commerce.
Since the OroCRM platform works with Magento, which is an e-commerce platform that provides online merchants with multiple tools for the functionality of their online store, a lot of the project's words are short and simple and have to do with online buying and selling.
I translated 77% of the text in the messages.en.yml subfolder, located in folder: OroCRMMagentoBundle. A grand total of 1040 words were translated in this contribution, as is shown in the following image:
While I was working on messages.en.yml, I had to research a couple of concepts I found on the subfolder that I´d never heard of before, here are some of the things I learned while translating this part of the project:
1 . Base currency & Quote currency
A Forex pair is composed of two currencies.
The first currency in the pair is called “Base” and the second one is called “Quote” or “Counter” currency. For example, in the pair EUR/USD, the Euro is the Base currency and US Dollar is the Quote currency. The Quote currency is used as reference to give us the relative value of the Base currency. We are going to use again an example because it’s the easiest way to understand: if the rate for EUR/USD is 1.2000, it means that one unit of the Base currency (Euro) costs 1.2 units of the Quote currency (US Dollar) so for every Euro, we will get 1.2 US Dollars.
2 . Recency
It is the measure of the time elapsed since (1) the last purchase was made by a customer, or (2) an advertisement was last published, or a commercial was last broadcast.
3 . ISO Code
The ISO country code are internationally recognized codes that designates for each country and most of the dependent areas a two letter combination or a three letter combination, its like an acronym, that stands for a country.
This code is used for example for the two-letter suffixes such as .us (United States), .fr (France) or .de (Germany) in top-level domains (for countries) in the Internet.
Languages
The project's source language is English and it was translated into Spanish (Colombia).
Besides collaborating as a translator for Open Source Projects on Crowdin I also work as a Freelance Translator for a law firm in the US, I've been working for that company for 7 months, translating sworn statements and legal documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.
