Portugal – Netherlands – 0-3 (Depay, 12’; Babel, 32; Van Deyk, 45+2) 

A few expected, but Netherlands national team, which didn’t manage to qualify the World Cup 2018, easily beat current European champion. After a hard match vs Egypt, Fernandu Santush changed half of the Portuguese squad, but it didn’t make any sense at all. Three goals behind after the first time, Ronaldo and co tried to play for a draw, but Cancelu’s dismiss upset their plans. Santush gave up, sending Cristiano to the bench, thus underlining the great effect of Koeman’s slap. Maybe, it would go for good – we’ll see. Otherwise, the strongest European team may become the greatest disappointment of the upcoming tournament. 

From the very beginning, Portugal took the ball under control, but there was a little sense in it – they didn’t even come close to Sillessen’s gate. On the other hand, Koeman’s team played very well with no ball, and attacked sharply. The result was not long to come – Van de Beck tried to shoot, but instead made an inch-perfect pass to Depay, who didn’t miss his opportunity. 0-1 at 12 minute.

Portugal took the control again, but still didn’t make any danger. They mostly tried to cross a high ball, searching for Cristiano, but for the orange defense it took no problem to intercept those crosses. Moreover, the second tulip attack became dreadful for their opponents. De Ligt made a great cross to the goalie line, Babel took the ball, and shot it right into the top corner of the net. 0-2, at 32 minute – the worst way to save the match.

Portuguese didn’t seem too weak, but they looked like they’ve never known, how to put the ball through the strong orange defense. On the opposite, Netherland knew it very well – at the end of the first half, they did it for the third time! Another free kick, another de Ligt cross – and Van Deyk put the third ball into Lopesh net. The second half almost became a formality.

Santush did a great job during the break – Portuguese started aggressively, searching for the luck close to Sillessen gate. Quaresma and Ronaldo tried to show their best – and they were about to make a goal. But suddenly, Cancelu let the team down, taking the second yellow card. Dismiss for him – and fail for the whole Portugal. Santush immediately gave up, taking Ronaldo off the pitch, but before a few fans somehow got there to make a selfie with a star. 

The time left didn’t bring something interesting. 0-3, an unexpected high-margin slim by the Netherlands team.
