Shop shots week 6. Being a little silly at work.
Sometimes you have to make yourself chuckle. A broken exhaust heat shield from a Nissan can make a fun mask to cheer up the Monday blues.
Follow along on my week as a journeyperson automotive technician.
A good client has been calling for days describing their problem where a number of electric circuits won't work until the car is warm. Every morning they have to heat up the fuse panel with a hair dryer before the taillights, power windows, rear defrost and other things will function. It turns out the fuse panel is a module(computer) that has failed. I attempted to disassemble it, but I would have to break a part of it, so the customer just had me put it back together as is with no repair done.
Any guesses what this part is? It's for a Toyota car.
I've set my young apprentice loose on this Impreza WRX. He's replacing the head gaskets and taking care of a few other issues. 
The engine has to be removed from the car to service it. Doesn't that boxer 4 cylinder look goofy!

Gotta love those snow tires! Might make a bit of a mess of asphalt though... A bit of silliness always helps drive away the Monday blues.
