How I found SteemIt?!?
How I found SteemIt? My goodness, I’m not even sure where to start. The beginning for me was when I began looking into early retirement (not close), mind you I’m only 29, and even though I love my job as a teacher I still feel like I am stuck in the “rat race”.
However, any thought of retirement is a long ways off. Stupid decisions during my college years left me with close to 90K (down under 30K now!) in debt, and I’m a teacher. Although, in the end, I wouldn’t trade my time in college and I loved my college years and still love my alum Texas Tech.
Thus, I started looking for ways that I could supplement my income and possible start putting more money towards my retirement. I used to write a lot in order to earn some extra side cash while I was in college. So… I started looking for ways that I could write about what I wanted to write about and earn some money and that was when I stumbled upon SteemIt.
I started writing every day and had some pretty good returns and got a lot of assistance from curation guilds like Curie which helped build my readership. Then real life came and I moved to California and this was when real life got in the way of writing here.
In order to stay a credentialed teacher, I had to take a lot of classes and pass more test in a fairly short period of time. Therefore, these last two months I had to stay away from Steemit (TO DISTRACTING) and buckle down on my classes and studying. However, I am happy to say that I have finished my classes and I passed all 4 of my state test that I needed to take!
Steemit for me
Has been a community that has been divided and supportive for me.
A location where you can write for money
A place where you can engage with lots of interesting people.
A spot to waste time
And an area where I feel like social media can be changed drastically.

Congratulations on passing your California tests! Sometimes life does get in the way of posting regularly - I can relate, for sure. But here's to your future on Steemit - and as a teacher. Being a teacher is such important work!
