Wasting Billions of Dollars On Policing Cannabis
Cannabis has now been legalized for recreational purposes in 11 states, with legalization for medicinal purposes accepted in others as well. You might assume that this would lead to a trend in less arrests related to cannabis but there are still thousands of arrests that are taking place every year, there are arrests and raids taking place even in states that have sought to legalize for either recreational or medicinal purposes.
The state is spending billions of dollars on policing cannabis, on restricting the natural rights of individuals to make their own consumption choices.
Thousands of people are still locked up behind bars for victimless crimes, peaceful individuals that have had their liberty taken away because of the cannabis that they might have grown, traded, or simply possessed etc.
It's estimated that the state spends at least $3 billion or more every year on enforcing cannabis possession laws.
That is thousands of people who have to face steep financial struggles to try and battle their cases in court. And for many of those who are being arrested it's for small amounts of cannabis.
This fight against cannabis is costing billions every year, and that is an incredible waste of money that could otherwise be going to more positive and peaceful endeavors. We don't need to be interfering with people who are growing, trading, or consuming cannabis, they aren't a threat to the community. The state shouldn't be trying to save those individuals from themselves, in attempting to do so they have fueled an incredible amount of unjust and irreversible violence against peaceful people.
Government is so darn dumb. Like here, BILLIONS gets spent on changing STREET NAMES!!! For what?! And there are people homeless, jobless, schools with no books etc. and the list goes on.
The war on drugs is very profitable to some like the prison complex, the tax payers are just scammed into covering the bill
that's for damn sure
Good = Respecting and protecting innocent life.
Evil = Hurting, oppressing, or killing others for fun or for profit.
Government doesn't respect and protect innocent life. Government hurts, oppresses, or kills for fun or for profit.
The people who grow or smoke cannabis aren't the threat to society. Governments and the nutbags in power are.
