Grocery Store Coin Machines Will Soon Start Offering Cryptocurrency

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

Last year, the number of crypto ATMs reportedly doubled despite the drastic decline in prices.

The country that is said to have the most crypto ATMs at the moment is the United States with more than 1,900 of them. Canada comes in 2nd place with more than 500 crypto ATMs spread across the country.

Although, when you consider the amount of crypto ATMS in relation to population, you get a very different list for who ranks at the top.

The world's very first crypto ATM reportedly went live back in 2013, located in Vancouver. Now, in a little more than half a decade you can find thousands of machines worldwide.

It's estimated that there are now more than 4,000 Bitcoin ATMs located in more than 60+ countries.

You can find crypto machines in places today such as:

  • Greece
  • Iceland
  • Chile
  • Germany
  • Denmark
  • Peru
  • Japan
  • Ukraine
  • Zimbabwe
  • Australia
  • Malta
  • Turkey

and many other regions.

Aside from physical crypto ATMs you can also find a growing number of virtual ATM locations that you can visit and exchange your dollars for cryptocurrency. This can potentially enable hundreds of thousands of retailers to function as ATMs and offer cryptocurrency to those who might be interested in purchasing.

Recently, Coinstar announced a partnership with Coinme that's going to enable a large number of their machines to newly be converted into crypto ATMs around the United States.

Coinstar has thousands of machines placed in various grocery stores worldwide that allow people to process their loose change and turn it into dollar bills. Their machines will now be converted so that they are able to dispense digital currency.

These ATMs whether they be virtual or physical do offer a convenient point of entry into cryptocurrency from familiar retail locations and this can hopefully help to ease the discomfort that many feel with turning to become familiarized with this new technology and cryptocurrency in general.

Now that seems like a really great and simple way to get people into crypto! Take that handful of coins in the jar on your dresser, drop it into the machine and feed your crypto wallet.

Bright Blessings!

Wow! I see a LOT of potential, there! And a potential opportunity for Steem, in particular... I have some ideas, there — now I think I know what today's post is going to be about! Thanks for sharing!

I wish you a great day dear friend

have you used a crypto atm there before?

I feel the problem will be in Tx fees,
If btc fees go up, then they can easily become more than any amount of change.

Oh. This is good to hear as i can see that cryptocurrency is taking the world by storm
