Finding Food Freedom With Backyard Gardening
It's estimated that 35 percent or more of the households in the United States either grow some of their own food in their yard or they grow food with the use of a community garden. That means that there are millions of families that are actively engaged in growing their own food.
There are a variety of benefits said to be associated with gardening and growing your own food, aside from the drastic reduction in food costs, it's also been known to help battle stress, depression, and even boost self-esteem.
Growing your own food in a backyard garden could help you to save $600+ every year.
Backyard gardens, and especially community gardens, researchers have found, contribute greatly to the emotional and physical health of the community.
Gardening also helps to encourage healthier eating.
It could be a small investment that goes a long way to reap some incredible health benefits as a result.

I love to see posts like this. I run a local garden page, volunteer at a local community garden, and have a homestead and blog of my own. I love to see how it can change peoples mood and even lives. Gardening is truly my stress relief but more than that, as you pointed out, it feels so good to pick our fresh foods minutes before consuming, and even better to know that every bit of what we grow helps the soil and environment. Every small step in the right direction is a big leap. ;) This year I've hardly had to purchase produce from the market. I did have to purchase things that don't grow here like banana, coconut, etc. One thing I'll add to the benefits of gardening is that you get some sun! It stimulates the production of vitamin D which is super important for health.
I believe some time in the garden or outdoors is always time well spent🌳🚶✌️
For sure. ;)
