Hello steemers
MEANING OF PLAGIARISM
plagiarism is presenting someone else's research work or ideas as your own without the owner's permission.
Plagiarism is presenting an individual's work or copyright by introduction it into your work without full acknowledgement or access.
The word plagiarism comes from the word" plagarius" meaning kidnapper, robber, and thief.
Vessal and Habibzadeh take plagiarism to be" ascribing others ideas, processes, results and words to oneself without due acknowledgement ".
According to the Merrian-Webster Online Dictionary, to plagiarize means to steal and pass off( the ideas or words of another) as one's own.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
- Global Plagiarism: it means plagiarizing or stealing an entire text. This include purchasing an essay or changing an assignment completed by someone else.
- Patchwork or Mosaic Plagiarism:
This is the means copying phrases, passages, and ideas from different sources and compiling them into a new text. - Incremental Plagiarism: this also means inserting a small amount of plagiarized content on a mostly original text.
- Self -plagiarism: it means recycling, representing your own previous work that you have already published or submitted.
WHY IS PLAGIARISM WRONG?
In project presentation, plagiarism is highly prohibited, such that it can affect the defender's work and at the end it will render the project useless.
For Students and Academics
Plagiarism is a form of academic disloyalty, whether you're a student submitting a paper for a class or a researcher to a journal. It is expected of you that what you have submitted is yours and it is properly referenced.
Doing this will not only earn you credit upon the work done, but also your readers will find it easy in tracing the source of the work or project.
In the art and creative arts
For those making visual, music, or other types of creative work, plagiarism is seen as theft or robbery.
Publishing or selling something that you didn't create means denying the original maker or creator of income for their work.
In music and film production, plagiarism is an unlawful act.
WAYS OF PROTECTION
- By citation
- By showing clear prove of one's write up
- By applying quotation mark, when quoting others work
- By being honest and loyal when making presentation.
- Self discipline
- By undergoing thorough research

Citation and Referencing
Citation is the act of making reference upon a research work or an assignment.
Citation is one of the way of kicking against plagiarism .
As we all know that " a plagiarized work will not be well cited because the whole process of Plagiarism is illegal and unlawful.
Referencing is the act of showing the direct source of a knowledge or concept. It is required to prove the sincerity in ones written work.
CONCLUSION
Hello Steemers,
Plagiarism is a negative term, which renders ones work or research useless and baseless.
A good researcher will always say "no" to plagiarism.
***Stealing, fraudery, kidnapping**** are acts which are against our normal day to day activities.
