Colorchallenge Tuesday - Orange

Putting a feather in your hat is a symbol of being victorious over a foe or being very successful at some task. Mr. Pumpkin Head has two feathers in his hat and I have to wonder what he earned them for? Perhaps he was very good at scaring away thieving birds that flocked in after this years crops. Or maybe he was good at making the children laugh and dance around him while humming some happy tune.

As I pondered these things my thoughts began to turn more sinister, what if Mr. Pumpkin Head came to life after dark on full moon nights and set out to perform some evil task? What if that toothy smile could turn into an ugly snarl on those late night outings when he was looking for some unsuspecting soul to prey on?

So I decided that it was possible that a little of both stories might be true. During the day when he was all smiles Pumpkin Head was good and kind and he had earned the white feather for saving someones life. But after dark every night when evil took control Pumpkin Head became a scowling terror and he earned his black feather while committing a horrible crime.

I think some times that we all have two heads with hats full of feathers, one head that is prone to do good with a hat full of white feathers and the other head being evil with it’s hat full of black feathers. Whatever could be the cure for such a pitiful state? The answer is plain, we should all walk in the light of pure love and grace and shun the darkness of hatred and spite. By walking in continuous love a light will shine round about us, and that light will drive away all darkness and the evil it brings.
