[Steem talk] Habit, passion and lifestyle

in #steem5 years ago

According to my last post record, I've stopped posting for more than 24 hours. I wanted to tell you, for the past 24 hours I have been thinking of when is the best time for me to author a post. What are the topic I should post.

I know for a fact that I have many thing to post, especially now that I'm running both #hasil2020 (which have very little participants) and #fitness2020 (I'm the only idiot having tons of placebo effect and keep on doing it for the past 6 days), but then everytime when I tried to blog about something, I had to end up erase it because the flow just doesn't come right. It's like when I have an idea on what to write, and half way there everything went blank. I have absolutely no idea how to bring up the message and how to conclude the topic I've started. Which simply means, it's not even a free write, because the post authored for the purpose of fulfilling a mission. It's like a habit. I do it because I have to do it, not because I wanted to do it.

Right until the moment I gave up. Note that by that time, it was 11:45pm, I think back the whole day at work, at meeting clients, having a corporate dinner meetup, filling gaps between appointments, I did quite a number of posts, which abruptly ended because I couldn't continue, it was really frustrating. Suddenly a truck came hit right behind my brain.

Blogging itself is a lifestyle, and habit is the thing that made up our lifestyle. Why do I have to think about what to blog? That's simply because I have a habit to write something, share my view. But what is most important for a blogger? It's the engagement. I can write all the stuff I planned for, thousands of words to make up a wall of text, but that doesn't serve any purpose. In the end, it's the audience reaction that count.

When I was showering myself with cold water, right before authoring this post, the flow comes. Everything came in one, by one, just like the 80's green characters monochorme CRT monitor showing line after lines of instructions.

  1. Who are my targeted audience
  2. What are the messages to deliver to audience
  3. Why do I need to tell them the message
  4. When to ask a question, so I can create engagement with my reader
  5. How to make the blog presentable

Noticed that I'm using the 5W1H method to come up with a set of blogging criteria? I'm not a technical blogger. In the end, blogging in #steem #blockchain is only a method to exercise our rights of use in the blockchain. It has nothing to do with passion. We're still blogging until today, simply because we have a habit to blog. And blogging is a lifestyle, where a blogger literally had to live with it in order to be successful(that's how I believe it).

Why would I say that? It is my believe that, if I were to become a good blogger, where I can build a bunch of followers who is like minded, so we can share our information on our posts and start to curate each other, learn from each others. So we literally need to live our life on what we're blogging, then we will get the idea of what to blog next. This link back to my recent #fitness2020 program, where I cut down a lot of #tasteem post because I choose to eat "responsibly".

Having said that, eating responsibly which means choices of food are extremely limited. I can still choose to live the #tasteem lifestyle heading to fancy restaurant, but can I go to a very high class restaurant and ask them to boil 2 eggs for me, and with a glass of water and I make a post in #tasteem? I guess not, that's an out right abusive action. #lifestyle changed, and food I changed, and the way I blog has to be difference.

We do not have to tie ourselves down. #2019 went by, my goal of atleast 1 blog entry a day has been fulfill. And during the year, my goal of making at least 1 blog post a day had seriously influenced my lifestyle, because spending time to write a blog is already in my daily routine. I can blog passionately, provided the blog entry is related to my lifestyle, and I have the habit of thinking, doing the things that I'm already doing on a daily basis. So now I realized, it's the things that I'm doing, will greatly affect my lifestyle, and the disturbed lifestyle will drive my idea away, and without a proper idea to blog, that will take away the soul of a blog entry, there goes making a blog a day a bad habit.

So once again, I'm glad I did not post a short blog just to fulfill my daily one post requirement in 2019. But I'm sure I have addicted to blogging, seeing people read my post and left me comment. In this 2020, let's make the happy version of our blog, and share what is our passionate about, within our living lifestyle. Don't ever let the "mission" come across and kill the fun of blogging.

Thank you for your blog @davidke20. I have a similar problem as sometimes I don't want to write. Instead, I save what I write so I can come back to it after I've rested. It works out for the best. I have to write technical papers and programs at work, so sometimes the last thing I want to do is write when I get home.

I recommend saving your work. It may come out better than you intended when you get back to it.

Thank you for speaking about your writing issues. It helps us to know about these obstacles.

Thank you for stopping by. The way you suggested, I think many will have a benefit. My problem is, when the flow stopped, it just go. The next time when I come back to that idea, the settings and parameter will change according to my mood. It's like almost impossible to have a "to be continue" phrase in our dream. I know sometimes it will, but most of the time a dream does not connect, that's exactly what happen to me when I try to save half a blog and decided to continue later. Nevertheless, now this post is out, I have a set of instruction for myself to follow when I think of posting. Not voting your comment since the new hard fork make the upvote payout shrink if it's below 20steem worth. So I'm sending you a !tip as a token of appreciation. You can still join tasteteem.let others taste and eat it while you ask for water amd boiled eggs or an ommelette and add the seevice aspect to it too. A good restaurant does not mind. It is the place the customer is king and people on diets are welcome too. 💕

Thanks for encouraging. I am committed to describing all the good food for my reader(probably not many of them are really reading). So, unless I have something to write about the food, I'm not going to abuse tasteem 🙂 if you did see, even the outlet is international franchise are not allowed, I didn't know in the first place, so I ended up post with esteem 😂

@davidke20 I never really kept myself busy with tasteem. You can always join @aurator's Tasty Tuesday with it. 😁❤️

Now that you speak of the devil! How come I haven't thought of that 😥

I mean @qurator.

For some reason I always forget about them too. I should join their contests more frequently. You could leave your link for the fitness chalkenge there too. I believe on Fridays. ❤️
