The Battle between England and Pakistan

The finals was held at MCG with a massive crowd of 80,000. I was waiting for an epic encounter between Pakistan pacers and England top order.

Pakistan started the batting with the Butler's invitation. After the century partnership in the semis, something extraordinary was expected from the opening pair. But Sam Curran got the big fish Rizwan for 15. Then throughout the inning the Pakistan batsmen were not comfortable at all. Only Babar and Shan Masood crossed the 30 level mark, but it was not enough. They could only manage just 138 runs.

The dream pair of the tournment, Butler and Hales started the innings for for England. But Saheen Afridi rattled the stumps within the first over, sending Aelx Hales away. And Haris Rauf came to the action with his deadliest combinations and within the powerplay England were 47-3. Pakistan bowlers did an amzing job putting pressure and taking wickets, and one man was holding his nerve and batting sensibly in the other end. 41 needed of the last 5.

Zero to Hero

There is only one man who can handle this kind of situation. The superstar, the man of the big moments, none other than Ben Stokes. He just had to repeat the same thing what he did in 2019 ODI world cup finals.

Unfortuately for Pakistan, Saheen Afridi got injured in the field with two overs remaining in his spell. Babar Azzam had no option, rather than going to Iftikar in the crucial 16th over, where Stokes scored 10 runs in the last 2 balls, where momentum came back to England.

He finished the match in style, scoring 52 runs not-out. After being hammered in the final over of 2016 t20 WC final by Windies, it costs them the world cup. But after 6 years, he was able to bring it back home. The same heroic he did in ODI world cup. He doesn't have big stats, but one of a kind all-rounder who delivers in tense situations. Salute champ!

Sam Curren of England who was exceptional throughout, became the man of the match as well as the tournament. He took 13 wickets in 6 matches, 3 wickets in the finals and crries best of 5/10 against Afganistan.
