Our Scariest Experience With Jerry - #DogsOfSteemit #DailyPetPhotography
Something every pet owner will have to face, taking your fur baby to the vet. This visit was very scary for us but not because of the reason we were going rather because of the visit itself.
We were camping and Jerry ended up getting attacked by a friends dog around the camp fire, Jerry instigated the situation by being a protective butt head and in the dark we did not see it coming. His neck was punctured and ended up pretty badly infected so we took him to the vet.
Jerry was put under, everything cleaned up without any complications it’s when he tried to wake him that things became a little alarming for us.
We were already on edge with our fur baby being knocked out but when he injected the neutralizing agent to wake him up and nothing happened we got really tense. The Veterinarian being wide eyed, looking like “ohh fuck!” was no help either. The Vet started speaking loudly to Jerry and shaking him lightly say “wake up” only to then hurry out of the room to get help.
This is when the picture was taken, those moments after the Vet left and we were seriously worried about Jerry waking up with how the Vet left us in a hurry.
It seemed like forever before the Vet came back with an assistant who administered a second dose in a hurry, stating the previous must have hit the fat instead of a vein and everything would be fine.
Lucky for them everything was fine for if my dog passed on that table I would have been going to jail and they would not have lives left to worry about either!

Wow. I bet that was intense moment.
My uncle's dog just got torn up by a pit bull. He got stitches from the vet and went home. He seemed like he was getting better and then got really sick. The wound got infected and had to go back to the vet to get opened back up and cleaned out. It was a pretty scary couple of days, but now he is running around barking at noises like normal.
Glad your pup made it through.
It really was pretty intense, Melissa and I had a good cry after while speaking of what would have happened if Jerry passed. Mel said my face showed all the doctor needed to know to start panicking, like one step from calling the police kind of panicking as it was clear from my expression if Jerry don’t wake up your going to get it!
Good to know you uncles pup healed up well, dogs are super resilient creatures it is absolutely amazing what they can endure and keep moving.
Things that will lay us up as humans, dogs can shrug off and keep on trucking. I got a story about that from our late pooch Meesha for another post when I can manage to dig out the picture, in short she was torn really good by barbed wire while we were out on the quads. She disappeared for a minute we heard a yelp and she came back acting just fine so we continued on and she ran for miles beside us till she started to slow down and refused to run any further. We went to lift her on the quad to find her stomach was ripped into her insides and the day quickly became how do we get her to the vet ASAP. She lived a very long healthy life even after another situation where she lost a leg 😅. I called her beater dog, like that good old car that never lets you down but is ever so ruff around the edges!
