Jerry must have had something happen to traumatize him badly enough he refuses to go in the water under his own power. When Melissa and I first tried to take Jerry in the water he freaked out pulling on the leash and ran back to the car, we thought maybe he didn’t know how to swim. Multiple attempts later over a few years we can now carry him into the water and allow him to swim back to shore, still gets a little freaked out but at least we know he can swim.
Jerry is no longer afraid.
We don’t think he will ever completely conquer his fear of entering the water, but at least he’s more comfortable near the water. He was interested in something splashing around in the bushes right at the edge of the water, trying to get a better look he hopped on the log.

Melissa stepped out onto the log with Jerry, she was trying to get him to step off of the log into the water. We are constantly trying to encourage him to overcome his fear. Jerry paid little to no attention to Mel’s attempts and was very reluctant to move off of the log. He will however walk into about ankle deep as long there is no drop off going into the water.

We went for a walk as per normal but this time we ended up adventuring down a trail we hadn’t been down. Langford lake is quite large, this trail appeared to be a fishing trail with some very nice spots to cast in from but not all of them were perfect!
Tons Of Fishing Line
This opening must’ve been the favourite place, everywhere you look in the trees fishing line. This branch is hanging by fishing line and by the looks of it very thick stuff.

I’m pretty certain this is some sort of poop or maybe fishing bait? I did not touch it to find out, but I am still wondering what kind of animal has bright red worm like turds.
Endangered Turtles
Usually we run into turtles but today we didn’t see any at all, I sure hope you’re doing all right this year.
Jerry Always Watches Where I’m Looking
I’m going to have to invest in a action cam for Jerry so that when he’s following me around watching what I look at I can get some video footage at the same time as trying to take pictures, I think that would be some interesting footage from the dogs eye view
Boat Launch
This is where we would usually carry Jerry into the water, minimal slope. I would walk into the water get Melissa to walk Jerry out onto the dock then I would pick him up place him in the water pointing toward shore and let him go. He gets very excited when he gets out of the water as if saying he’s proud of himself, running around in circles kicking up the sand.
Only When She Isn’t Watching
I happened to catch Melissa exhaling her vapour cloud out the window as usual I have to be sneaky about it. Anytime I try to take her picture she tends to turn her back to me, it’s all right I used to feel the same way.

Jerry came from mexico and I am not certain exactly what happened with him to cause the fear in the first place but he is even afraid of the bathtub, thats a topic for a vlog all its own lol.
My other dog was Meesha, the 3 legged one, she hasn't been with us for a few years now but she loved to swim, We tried many time while she was still mobile enough to swim to get Jerry to join her but no matter how we tried he would just have a freak out on the beach. He goes absolutely hysterical when we go swimming out to far for his liking but we keek working on him. Just a few weeks ago was the first time we managed to get him to chase something into the water but as soon as he was chest deep he turned around and ran all the way up the trail back to the car.
Jerry is alway watching out the front window, he's a smart one knowing that is where all the action is. He keeps an eye out the front for things he can bark out the rear window at, he makes a lot of people jump it is rather funny ;)
I see he gazes out for a firm view............ straight up the windshield just to for himself.
I perceive he doesn't like second hand information, which is smart.
How do you handle him when he barks at people. What do you tell him.

maybe Jerry does not know how to swim afterall thats why he is scare or maybe he is blushing...............lol
