A swampy spot within our low lying town and its good to fish from it all day around

The great spot where you can be to fish on or trap fish out

The high grass with low light and grey but high light skies divide

Our town where I live belongs to the lowest parts of of our province which is why we are aligned with river system because rivers just flow where there is a least resistance and that is to the lower part of lands and then it makes its way out to the seas. The rivers would start from the mountainous areas of our province where part of it was made to be a dam which the government used for electricity generation a long time ago. Our town is quite near the hydro-electric powerplant and it is a good thing because we seldom suffer from power interruptions. But it is not good to live along a river because of the fact that it sometimes would swell when there is a heavy rain as the water from the surrounding provinces would make our group of towns get submerged in flood water. It is a good thing as well that at least our barrio is protected by a dike which was made while the dam was being made so that the water which would come out from it will flow smoothly which is why our river is quite deep because as my father told me many years ago, the river was also used for extracting sand from its bottom.

With regards to these photos, particularly to the first one above I captured this type of common landscape where an untouched swampy part of our town is located. The water over there is permanent, it doesn't dry-up and remains submerged in water. So in our town alone if you would travel the main highway, only the sides of the roads have a dry soil and at the back of those houses and establishments you can find scenarios like the above photos to prove that a long, long time ago without the main hi-ways, it is just hard to travel in our town because most of its parts are just low-lying where in some parts of our group of town the former rice farmers just converted their rice fields into mud crab farms because the saltwater had slowly crept into those rice fields made worse by high-tide until the farmers changed their farming work into another business of raising crabs because they have no choice otherwise their properties will not yield anything by stray fishes coming from the ocean nearby because their town already belong to the coastal area of our province. It worked well for those former rice farmers because mud fish are commanding a high price especially if you would sell them in hotels or middlemen which will come to formers to buy the mudcrabs in bulk. The only thing about mud crab farming is that the house of the owners or farmers are often isolated from the rest of the population because they still have to guard their farm from potential robbers of the said "seafood" because mudcrabs are expensive and delicious at the same time.

More often if you would get to pass-by these low parts of our town or even other low-lying towns of our province, you can just stop by and fish from them. Some people uses air rifles to spear out the fishes which would come-up for air especially during the hot months while some people are just patient enough to use a line and bait to fish. But I guess that it would be better to set-up and leave a fish trap within its deepest part on the late afternoon and harvest the fishes you caught at day break in the morning. In that way or method you can get a bunch of fishes in one go which actually are very tasty because they are caught in the wild. It is too bad that our bodies of water are infested now with janitor fishes which eats eggs of local fishes but I guess that it is still okay because janitor fish meat is also edible and we can still eat it and there are plenty of them to be had. All that you have to do is to catch them and wash them before burning their tough skin in order for you to easily peel them later to get into their flesh and cook the flesh in whatever dish you want to cook like being cooked with coconut cream, garlic, onion, ginger, and hot chili peppers to make-up a very delicious dish or viand which is perfect for either cold rice or a steaming fluffy rice.
