Our Next Nursery Chronicles: Onion Growing in Recycle pots attempt!steemCreated with Sketch.

Finally!
There's some time for writing!

I have been wanting to post this but I just seemed to be so caught up with things that I couldn't not get the time to do so.

So about a month ago, I acquired some onions from @gtpjfoodbank after helping out organising the food packs for the needy for September, and we actually found there were quite a few onions that are already sprouting. It's not too nice to give to the families as we know that they are only collecting a week later.

Imagine... what happens to these sprouting onions after a week??

So I started experiment more about re-growing edible food source. Especially that onions are actually quite a good addition to the cooking!

I actually chose the smaller ones first to be planted on bottles to see will they survive. As you can see this poor fella, it is already growing out and the onion bulb itself is already starting to empty up. How are we giving these to the needy, unless we are planting sprint onions for them?

So off I go, using a garbage back, cutting it into stripes enough to just cover the sides of the 1.5 L water bottle's sides to prevent the bottle to create mould.

After everything was nicely planted, only then I realised from #theunmentionalbles captain-planet channel advisers that I supposed to plant on DEEP pots (so that it can reproduce produce bulbs.

So I guess, 1.5 L bottles will not be suitable for onion reproduction; rather for spring onions harvest.

Unfortunately, these red onions, although pungent, still attracts snails to attack and even lay eggs on them! So half of my experiment were destroyed by the army of baby snails.

Except for just a few, which one of them I happy harvested for my Steam Egg Omelete, that rounded up only costing MYR1 (0.25 SBD) for a lunch meal!

And moreover, I do not have to spend extra for buying spring onions lol.

Oh how nice it is to be able to see something grow, despite for some setbacks. Life from nature always brings such positive energy!

Nom Nom Nom!

Thank You for Your Time
