Populism is a Hammer that breaks The Future

Everybody likes the good old days, don’t they? It’s strange though how people know time travel is impossible, yet they still think aiming for retro times may be a good idea. The old steel mills aren’t coming back. The industrial centers aren't returning. Nor is the single income family. All around the world people look to strongmen leaders to somehow make their country great again (if they ever were “great” to begin with).

The irony is that we’ve moved, for better or worse, to an international and globalized world, yet people want the future to be more isolated, as if that were possible. Yet their hypocrites too, because they still want their Asian electronics, Latin American food, and European luxury items. Obviously the politicians have sold the masses empty promises for so long, that the population will believe any new scheme at this point. That’s why we have the tilt back towards socialism.

Like usual everyone is happy to bitch and moan and blame and kick the can to the next generation for all the problems to deal with. If we were honest we’d realize we have to assess the new realities and deal with them rationally. But many are too busy still wanting to sit within one of the two-party camps and not seriously deal with the issue. Until we get away from the old, failed models, the future will stay forsaken and slumber through our inept madness.

… Fortunately I think that more and more young people look at the whole system, all the bullshit talk and posturing, and see a bunch of old white men posers and money whores who don’t represent any interest except the oligarchs and are just extremely out-of-date, and essentially the whole system will be scrapped… but for exactly what will come after, no person can say.
