My First Impressions After Using ActiFit Fitness Tracker
Hey Steemians
I've recently seen a couple of Steem users posting this pretty weird fitness rate card. Peeps like @evecab, @ninjavideo and @androssgb posts set me on a path of discovery. I found a new app called @actifit which available for both Android and iOS (iOS releasing just this week) that allows you to track your fitness goals and activities and integrates it with the Steem blockchain.
Note: My review was done using the iOS version of the app!
An awesome review of the app on Android
Yes, Ladies and Gents! Time to get off the PC or the Smartphone and get active with Steemit, that's right Steem is coming to a gym, park or fitness class near you.
It's a very similar concept to an ICO a reviewed a few months back called lympo (tangent, I look back fondly on all the posts I made where I received Zero rewards, what was I thinking? Why did I keep going lol).
How ActiFit works
ActiFit works on a step count system with a daily target step count of 10,000 steps. Depending on your steps for the day you will receive an upvote based on the following matrix.
- 0 to 4,999 steps: 0%
- 5,000 to 5,999 steps: 20%
- 6,000 to 6,999 steps: 35%
- 7,000 to 7,999 steps: 50%
- 8,000 to 8,999 steps: 65%
- 9,000 to 9,999 steps: 80%
- 10,000 and above: 100%
My impression of the app
Well, you earn cryptocurrency of course what more can I say? The app has a built-in wallet and stores your ActiFit tokens for you.
Native wallet
You can check your balance by adding your Steemit handle without the @. For now, it looks like these tokens are locked and cannot be traded for other cryptocurrencies so I'll just have to keep earning in the meantime.
ActiFit is currently an ERC20 token but there are plans for it be swapped once SMTs are officially live on the STEEM blockchain.
Logging your usage
Once you've completed your work out you're able to post directly to Steemit from the app. You will need to manually input your data and then add a description of at least 200 words for it to publish. You will also need to have your Steemit post private key on hand for it to sync with your account.
You are only allowed one post per day to limit spam!
Leaderboard
The app has a daily leaderboard for the top 5 users of the app each day. Other than that not much going on there!
Donations
One cool feature I found hidden away in the settings is the donate function. It allows you to donate your earnings from the app to a charity and has accounts ready for you to donate to.
Get your Smartphone fitness arm strap, your headphones and your favourite playlist and get out there
The downside
The app only makes use of the gyroscope to capture movements and then those movements are allocated to a total activity metric in steps so you're not going to get any distance, speed or average times calculations like you would with other GPS based fitness apps.
So if you're a runner, sadly there is no way to capture your distance or any health data you would normally get from a fitness app.
I thought maybe I could use my other fitness apps to give this one my data but you also cannot integrate your data with other running or fitness apps you may already be using, which is also a bit of a letdown.
Since this is the launch of the app I'll give it some grace, for now, I'd like to see some more features that would really turn this from a gimmick app into a real fitness app alternative.

Oh by the way, I also saw that you can increase your earning potential of the ActiFit token if you delegate to them.
See there daily post about the adoption of the app here.
Certainly one of the better and more thorough explanations of this app I have seen, so thanks for that. I've seen a lot of these little "report cards" and they seemed a bit spammy, but if you can only do one per day, that would seem to limit it a bit.
=^..^=
No problem I was also pretty curious so I guess report cards are doing its job of marketing the app! I’m glad they limit it to one per day I can only imagine all the abusive shitposts we would see!
I think the report cards aren’t a bad idea if they offered you more customization like say you did running and it gave you the ability to have your distance, speed, timing, your past performances and leaderboard with others or maybe groups of friends you challenge that would make it interesting and worth having a daily post as you and your friends can keep track of each other’s progress or copy work out routines you like

I saw your test post about the app yesterday and got stuck in immediately with the download. Went for a run last night but it did not seem to track very accurately. Like you say though, it is early days for the app so I will give it a chance. Besides...if I am going for a run anyway, I may as well earn some crypto for it.
Thanks for the info in your post, there were a few things there that I was not aware of.
LOL! I thought the same thing when I saw it ag Shane lets test this out and have a run shall we can’t hurt can it? Will see how long the novelty lasts keen to see if I can hit the 10 000 steps a Day regularly! Also thanks for the scoop on delegation! Since I am using the app for now I dropped a delegation now! Will do a follow up review in a couple of weeks on my earnings and experience with the app

This was a good help, am glad you came up with this. Had no idea of it before seeing it here :) Thank you
Cool, You going to give it a try?
sure, why not :)
Thank you for the nice review, yes we do have plans for including much more functionality into the app, including distance, etc...
Pleasure man, only my 2nd day using the app but I hope to make it a habit and look forward to the new features you have planned :) Preferably release iOS updates before Android :P

Great review! I just got this week and also am enjoying it so far. I think they have a got a great opportunity to develop this into a great application with more flexibility given the support they are getting from the community. I also have a wearable so I have been able to continue to track workout there while using the app on my device although it is a bit uncomfortable.
BYW, I found your post via @trufflepig post which i am enjoying as it is a great finder of good content warranting some support!
I also think it’s a great idea and it has the potential to grow because we already have a community of people into fitness and some who just need a bit of motivation to get going and that’s why I think this one stands out from other fitness ICOs I’ve seen
I used to think that wearables were overpriced gimmicks but now that you can use it to earn crypto it doesn’t seem like such a bad buy anymore thanks for the tip
Oh yeah I love trufflepig I’ve been featured a few times and it’s always lead new people like you to my content and I’m super greatful it’s seriously one of the best bots on steem right now
