Steem Owner or Renter which strategy is better

in #introduction7 years ago (edited)

Steemit is indeed an amazing platform with a lot of opportunities including many strategies to making money. One of them is buying more steem (my best option ie being a steem owner ) and the other one is renting steem in order to get more curation rewards.

There are many ways to renting steem power:

  • Free Delegation: This can come from a friend, family member or well-wisher .Example a good steemian : @krnel  delegated 30K steem power (free of charge because he will not be blogging for a while) to @lyndsaybowes due to her unique qualities see link  congrats to our dear @lyndsaybowes , you deserve the award.
  • Paid Delegation : you can pay a fellow member a specific amount for a specific period of time for his/her steem power . This can be arranged between both of you. Moreover, there are great deals here at steemit where you can rent steem power as indicated by @thecryptodrive here and  investors can lease out their Steem power and earn up to 49% APR with MinnowBooster.net Delegation Leasing Market (DLM).
  • Free Delegation via contest: Here you have to join steemit community and participate in contests see my former blog post for full details here -one example is @fyrstikken wide ranges of challenges where people can win thousands of delegated steem power.

All these opportunities shows how amazing steem ecosystem is. The issue , however , lies on the mentality of members . For example, the mentality of consistently renting delegated steem power without using it prudently to grow their own steem power. The mistake some of us make is to  forget that there is time frame attached to the delegated steem power and use up the earned  steem either in shopping or even taking out flagging fights with other members . Furthermore, avoid spending all your gains on un-necessary stuffs rather employing the rich man strategy  as indicated by @lukestokes in his former post here : reinvesting the curation reward gains into growing your steem power any time you get a payout- stop thinking short term rather as a long term investor in steem ecosystem because the future of  steem is very bright –see my former blog post for reasons : here

Conclusion:  This article discussed some ways to make more money here on steemit . However, for some of us who have little steem power, or who want to grow fast into a dolphin or whale , renting steem power is a good strategy - however we have to use the opportunity prudently  in order to become big owners of steem power and not stay stagnant as renters of steem power . One way is to change our spending mentality by thinking long term and reinvesting in steem power because the rental time of the  delegated steem power is limited.

To become succeesful in steemit I know one solution, don't expect a vote and just post your idea. Honestly, no one care. Who care about you is only you. Just do it, enjoy steemit, read and read. The main reward here is not steem and sbd but the knowledge you get from reading. Me I dont get enough vote and steem but I got enough knowledge about crypto and knowledge gives me free money. Infact in the I just get a couple of dollars investing right.

I think that's a fair point. But to be honest, I feel that it can be sort of... lonely? If your ideas don't spark some sort of discussion. It's almost to the point where your postings are more of a diary of your own thoughts. And it's the conversation element that I enjoy most about this community. :)

It is true. "Get enough knowledge about crypto and knowledge gives me free money. "
But how to delegate or rent "steem power" from whale? If anyone would like to offer help to me, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
I am looking forword to getting your help! Please contact me!
Thank you.

Excellent point which I outlined in my older posts too. Thanks for sharing , upped

Unless the owners market is grossly inflated, when it comes to things we plan to possess for more than a few years, it is always better to be an owner than a renter if one can afford it.

Good point, I agree

I wonder... is there any challenge to the steemit community/content creation system, where the "landlords" or whales of steem attract and capture all the voting potential because of the promise for better curation rewards.... where this effectively overshadows good content from newer users who might not have as much steem power that whales provide?

your question depends on where you are heading to-can you pls be more specific?

Not too sure what you're referring to when you say "where you are heading", but I guess to clarify, in regards to your topic of a little guy renting steem power to grow and make money... Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but it almost seems as if new steem users (if their objective is to gain traction on steemit) are, in many cases forced to rely on the boosting potential afforded to them by whales. Irrespective of whether their content is good or not. So there seems to be quite a few challenges in organically growing a following Steemit, growing steem power, and by extension, money making power... without some sort of upfront investment in steem power or help from a whale. (sorry that was a little long and stream of thought, but I hope it makes sense)

Good point I agree with you on post boosting. However Steem power is the key in addition to other strategies-see my older blog post plus this link https://steemit.com/steemit/@charles1/stop-whining-here-are-way-to-improve-your-earnings-on-steemit where I outlined what to do .

Sure! will take a look

welcome

great post as always @charles1
the issue of delegating and or renting steem power is a good option for most of us who needs such . For sure, steemit has a lot of good opportunity for those really in need to make a difference for themselves...

Good point, I agree

Thanks and keep steeming

welcome, try focus on other posts and comment there pls...

Sure will do...thanks

always welcome and steem on!

Ok,pls proceed on other new posts and build your following plus reputation..I try to respond to all my comments and not unending one ...

All three ways to acquire steem power seems very interesting to me.
For now I can only participate in the contests and do my best by voting, commenting and posting.

Great, I wish you more success

@steemprice any latest ?

Thanks for posting this piece, @charles1. As a new member in Steem, I have a lot of questions. For topics such as delegation, my questions are accompanied by suspicion. There appear to be a few people and/or bots who are attempting to "game the system." Your article helps to explain some of what is going on here and why, however.

Do you have an opinion as to at what point Steemians should consider engaging in delegation? For example, should they wait until they have a few hundred followers, a thousand, or is there some other data point they should be considering?

I have upvoted this post and followed you, and intend to read through some of your previous posts, as well. Feel free to follow me back.

Thanks again for your post and good luck on Steem. Enjoy your journey!

Done. It depends. I think that you are soooooo new and need to take out few weeks to learn and comment prudently...see my former posts for tips including this link https://steemit.com/steemit/@charles1/stop-whining-here-are-way-to-improve-your-earnings-on-steemit

I like your article and fully agree - when people become personable their posts shoot off like a rocket.

Have you rented or delegated any steem?

You I have not rented or delegated steem ... I do not have too much steem to delegate out

Thanks! Read it and will read more of your posts. Definitely agree with your tips; I'm focusing on great curation first. Appreciate the follow back!

You are welcome and more success to you

minnowbooster.com is a site that does it, but I've heard mixed reviews

thanks for making this

making what??? why are you thanking me?

i still vote Steem Owner compare to renter

Owning a steem is better than renting. I think steem staking will earn you some. I don't know if that works

Good point, owning steem power is the main key to success
