Another Heavily Undersold Community Fundraiser
Not much surprises me these days as I’ve been around the block a few times. I like to think I can spot a scam from a decent distance and I also reckon I can spot a great deal when I see one too. Those who know me well enough would know it’s actually what I do for a living. I don’t have a boss, any staff or any clients for that matter either and whenever I try to explain what I do to people I always get the same confused look. I pretty much live on my wits. Life (and my income) is volatile when you live on your wits, but it’s fun and I’m good at it….

But I do constantly get surprised by stuff that happens here on the STEEM platform every day. I have seen some really generous things that continue to amaze me, and I see some really narrow-minded and short-sighted stuff too which just boggles my mind. I guess it doesn’t matter how old I get I will never really understand it all by using rational thought and reason. Maybe this isn’t really the place for a rational thinker like myself, but I am digressing.

This is the second month in a row that the ever generous @raybrockman has put up an awesome prize(s) to be raffled off with ALL proceeds going to the #SteemSilverGold community support initiative @ssg-community. It’s also the second month in a row that the raffle is looking heavily undersold. We are almost at the end of the raffle sales and we’ve sold tickets worth just 44 SBD, an equivalent of about $150 USD at todays prices. Yet if we want to look at how much these prizes are worth on Apmex they are selling at $234.51. Have a look for yourself.

It’s mental. Next month if he wants to donate to the cause I am going to tell @raybrockman to just sell me the prizes, I’ll pay in STEEM or SBD and he can donate that. I actually really want the 100 Dollar bar this month but I don’t buy tickets because as an organiser of @ssg-community I see it as a conflict of interest and integrity is very important to me. My Stackitis is actually killing me but I am trying to stay strong. It’s all for a good cause but even if you don’t care one IOTA about what the #SteemSilverGold Community are trying to do, just playing the odds here is cracking value. Snap, this is the first time I had heard of it. I assume that is the same case for others so maybe I will also make a quick post about it tomorrow to try to get a few people to join in.. in addition to buying a couple tickets myself because silver bars are something I definitely need more of!

Thanks, I really appreciate that. My problem is I'd feel terrible if I won it. I'd have to give it away or ask for a redraw and my Stackitis would be crippling. I don't think I want to do it to myself so I try to find other ways to donate.
I can't speak to the great value people are missing out on here (though it looks like a pretty awesome deal to me), but I can echo what you've talked about regarding the generosity contrasted against the inanity that goes on here.
I suppose that's what happens in a true free society (or whatever we might call this place) where you can say and do whatever you want. I'm glad to say I see more good than bad, but sometimes the bad is head scratchingly so, it seems to outweigh or overwhelm it.
Stay strong. Don't let the stackitis take over. We need people of integrity. :)
It's amazing. We've just had a flood of ticket sales in the last 24 hours so I can't claim it's cracking value any more, but I am really happy to see the broad support.

I just miss the SBD for most raffles or they are US only. And you can loose ofcourse, it is a raffle!
