Writing: IT'S NOT ABOUT PERFECTIONISM!

I find myself writing lately about the creative process, which surprises me a little bit. I didn't know I was so passionate about that. What I'm really passionate about is the blockchain, Steemit, and you. You're a key part of the former. I find myself extremely passionate about encouraging along everybody's voice. I guess it's because my creativity was stunted for many, many years, and now I share constantly here and on Instagram and facebook and just talking to others. Life is a creative process.

I guess it started when I was in first grade, and I was coloring this amazing abstract piece with crayons. I must have thought it was a particularly profound piece, especially full of emotion, and showed it to my best friend, Rachel. And she didn't understand my brilliance with the crayon and told me I was too old to scribble now. I felt ashamed, and my creativity was severely stunted from then on out.

I didn't know what the hell I was doing here on this planet and/or what I was interested in until I was 30. Then I found out I was interested in everything. I had done so much searching that I knew a little bit about everything. I have a profound interest in life and what it is. And I like to share how I think and feel and how I see the world. Inspiration constantly and steadily flows through me.

It is in no way about perfectionism. I don't think for a week on a topic and sit down to write an essay on the topic. Inspiration comes and it calls strongly. I get straight to the keyboard and start typing. I have to do it. It's not a thinking or planning, but a flow. I put my hand to the keyboard and I don't stop. That's actually the key in writing. We want to tap into something. See, we're not the originators of our thoughts we're the receivers of them. When we put hand to paper or keyboard and we keep typing no matter what, we open up a creative flow, a valve to something. To anything. It could be our subconscious. It could be an old wound talking. It could be a discovery that we're on to that pours through in first thoughts right out through your hands to the keyboard.

IT IS NOT ABOUT PERFECTIONISM.

It is not about whether other people like it. It's about self expression for self expression's sake.

That being said, when you give yourself over to something bigger than you as I have here on Steemit, giving myself over to the energizing and empowerment of each one of you, what comes through is what needs to come through for your purpose. Hence why I share about the creative process which I didn't really ever intend to do.

You are brilliant. Let yourself be. Just let go! Put your hands on the keyboard and take a deep breath and start typing. You can ask a question. You can start out with a topic you've been wondering about. You can start a sentence with whatever's in front of you. It doesn't matter. Create shit. Whatever you create is you coming through your work. It's important. Help people to see who you are and see the world through your lens for just a minute while you have their intention. Just let the fuck go of how good or profound it's going to be.

You don't have to be an artistic genius. You don't have to come here and say anything incredibly profound. You are a human with a totally unique experience. Share it.

Writing is a discovery of who you are, your voice, and what's important to you. Start writing every day. Or making music, or scribbling with crayons (read make amazing abstract art filled with deep human emotion) every day. Find out what time of day is your most creative time, and do it every single day. You will discover who you are in this world. Your purpose will come through you, and you'll get very practiced at your art and very comfortable with self expression. My friend @vincentnijman found that his valve is the most open when he talks, so that's what he's going to share on Steemit and on dsound. Self expression is healthy and good for the soul. If you don't have a creative outlet, your energy is being all blocked up. Open up the valve and let it flow. Everyone can write. Writing is for literally everyone.

I highly recommend Natalie Goldberg's books Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within and Wild Mind: Living the Writer's Life to you. You'll never see creativity the same again. I also highly recommend Clarisa Pinkola Estes' book Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. It will draw a passion out of you, and you will never be the same again.

Perfectionism is not beautiful. Raw is beautiful.
