5 Guys Burgers
It's a normal winter Tuesday in Yuma, AZ. Too many people and not enough space on the roads or in the stores. I decided today was the day I was going to get new glasses. I had decided I was going to try the chain store in the same mini mall as one of the coffee shops I frequent.
Alas and Alack, the optomitrist was closed today, so to bury my sorrows I went next door to 5 Guys Burgers. 5 Guys is a chain of burger joints in the far west. I have been to several and they are pretty darn good.
It's a mini mall, not much to see out front, I didn't even take a picture.
You walk in directly to the order counter. You order your burger and pay the bill, they issue you a reciept with a number and you wait til it's called. I ordered a double patty cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, mayo and grilled onions with a medium fry.
This is how it's served. They call out your number and you pick up your bag. Served in a plain brown wrapper!
First out of the bag the cup of fries. A pretty good sized personal serving.
Now the burger is out of the bag.
First look. Ummmmm Smells delicious.
Now that's a hamburger! Does this sequence feel like a hamburger stip tease act to anyone else?
You didn't think I was here to just take pictures did you? Those fries shown are the extras that I dumped out of the bag. I haven't touched the cup yet.
Damn, that's a tasty burger, and their fries are seriously good. As a chain they do a really good job with their fry prep and serving.
Just to tell you how I feel about 5 Guys, the In N Out is right directly across the street. 5 Guys is superior in my book.
Just like this post, that's all there is. I am a big fatboy and that was plenty for me.

I have only been to 5 Guys once. They are starting to get more of them throughout Michigan. The only one I know of for sure is in the Greektown area of Detroit. The one I have been to was down in Columbus, Ohio though. It was quite some time ago, but I recall it was pretty good. As far as fast food burgers go, I am actually a really big fan of Wendy's. I'd like to try In and Out and some of the other ones at least once in my life though.
I have a Wendy's that I stop at religiously. It's embedded in a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. Last stop in Arizona before you hit California (fuel is way cheaper in AZ) so it's always busy. Anyway, I generally have a salad there, and they are good.
The 5 Guys burger is the closest I know to a 'premium' place. They really do make them well.
Yes, I think if you were talking high tier fast food Five Guys is there. We have a local chain called Halo Burger that I used to go to quite frequently. Haven't been there in ages though. I really compare any fast food burger I have to Clyde's drive-in in the UP that I have posted about before. It is the gold standard for me.

I'm seriously going to have to try Clydes. That's a pretty high recommendation for me.
We have a local chain 'Burgers and Beer' that is strictly a sit down with just good food for all meals. Three locations, 2 in extreme SE California.
And we have a 'stand alone' Brown Bag Burger' that is probably my local favorite. A good cheeseburger is an important friend to have!

It's really good for a chain place. They put real toppings on, their grilled onions are a nice touch. I've eaten in several, they are always top notch. I didn't have one this time, but their milkshakes are terrific, too.
I havent been to 5 guys for a few months at least but I do love their burgers, and I have just decided I am durum for one, so there is one not to far from me in the city so thats my lunch decided for today :)

I think I enjoyed todays lunch more than I have lunch for a long time it was so good ;)
