A Strauss Silver coin!
Given that I'm a classical musician, there are some coins that I'm willing to pay a little bit more for. Mostly science or music themed ones, I guess we all have our weaknesses!
So there was a little batch of silver coins (a mix of pure and sterling silver) up for auction on ebay, with the likes of Bach, Monteverdi and Handel on the faces. Sadly, those ended going for more than I wanted to pay (they also didn't look so good either...). However, I did manage to win the Strauss Coin, which is in the same series as the Schubert and Schumann silver coins from Austria that I already have.
Strauss is not a composer that I play much of... He is mostly associated with the waltzes and dance music that he is most famous for. Think of the Blue Danube and Tales of Vienna Woods, the sort of ballroom music made famous by the New Year concerts in Vienna and also the likes of music pop stars like violinist Andre Rieu.
Despite that, it is nice to pick up a music themed coin... It doesn't hurt that is a pretty looking one as well!

I do not know much about coins. We have a jar of old coins from different countries and that is it. These silver commemorative coins. Do they increase in value or the same value of the silver market price?
Well... they are always at least the value of the silver that is contained in them... but depending on scarcity and well, voodoo coin demand.,... they are often worth a little bit more... or sometimes a good deal more!

IT is really interesting... I don't have that much, it is a recent hobby... but one where I'm learning quite a bit!
I don't think I will see too many Gothic Metal Artists on Silver coins anytime soon.
You never know... it took these guys about 200 years to get their faces on a coin!
Right, and I'll just be an 800 year vampire than a 600 year old one today when that happens.
