My Jeep HistorysteemCreated with Sketch.

Over The Years ..

I owned three Jeeps. They were each a pain in my butt, and each a blessing to own. Unless you have ever owned a jeep wrangler, you may not understand this bitter sweet relationship. I have been through all of the emotions with these vehicles. I hated them, loved them but never misused or abused them. So in the end, when it was our time to part ways, I was sad and joyful. Would I ever recommend a Jeep? Hmmmmm.. not to someone who expects a smooth ride and a peaceful quietness. I don't know about the newer Jeep models, but my CJ, YJ and TJ were all VERY noisy. Every Jeep I have ever been in was loud and rode a bit rough. Hey, If you don't mind a few squeaks, rattles, and "what the heck was that" going on.. Buy one of these older models!

My 1982 Jeep CJ7 ..

This was the first Jeep I bought. I saved up roughly $2000 USD and purchased this girl. She was truly a sight to see. I bought it with this Canary Yellow paint scheme and sold it this way. I could be seen coming from a mile away and everyone knew who I was.. Good and Bad thing..hehe. Man was this puppy a rough ride. It had a very very very heavy hard top (almost three people needed to remove it) that helped to soften the ride a little. The heat hardly worked and I just about froze a few times. The clutch and fly wheel were replaced, but never shifted quite right. You had to time your shifting and listen to the rpms. Most of the time I never used the clutch and just shifted through gears the old fashioned way. I was getting roughly 9-12mpg.. ugggg. Gas was cheaper though when I owned it. There was no body or frame rust on this girl which was hard to find. It was a popular with buyers when I did finally decided to sell. Sad to see her go.. but happy to see the $$$.

My 1989 Jeep YJ ..

This was the second Jeep I decided to buy, and bought it right after I sold the CJ7. I remember driving it home after buying it and thinking, "What the heck did I just do???" Yup, after I sold the CJ I ensured myself that I was not buying another Jeep. That didn't last two weeks. I was missing the Jeep feeling and started my quest to own another. This Jeep was really a fun Jeep. It came with a soft top and half doors which I absolutely loved! That top was always down, 80% of the year. Cold or not, I didn't care. The ride was a lot smoother and the heat worked a lot better.. haha.. I don't want to forget to mention that it got much better gas millage (maybe 16mpg). I made a lot of cool, fond and cherished memories in this Jeep. I owned this one for the longest time, but I decided one day that a pick-up truck was going to serve my needs better. Thus she had to go. I was so upset to watch someone else drive it away, and often wonder where she is and what shape she's in today. Weird I know.

My 2006 Jeep TJ ..

Oh My GOSH! I still own this Jeep and would never part with it. This one has been a absolute joy to own. After extensive work, she rides pretty smooth (for a Jeep), Looks and operates great, not many weird noises going on, pretty good gas millage for an I6 (about 18-22mpg), and the heater in this thing is intense! You could ride around in the dead of winter.. blast the heat and be fine.. well .. okay a little chilly. hehe. It's been fun playing with this one. They make so many aftermarket parts for it. Tons of stuff available, even for the most armature of gear-heads. I have done too much to this particular Jeep to list here. All of the modifications have been worth it and give me an excuse to get my hands dirty. I have learned a lot about Jeep TJ's while working on this girl. I think I have had almost everything pulled apart on it for one reason or another. There are a lot of things I want to do with it yet, but time is my enemy. Some day.. for now I love driving her to back and forth to the beach and around town. Love it!

So There You Have It ..

Sorry I don't have a moment or two more to continue on this memory flash back. Maybe I will visit this topic again soon when I am ready to modify something else. We'll see. For now, I am going to go pull the TJ out of the garage and meet my cousin for a nice breakfast. We'll most like;y be talking Jeeps. It's what Jeep people do.. hehe.
