I Will Burn Any Steem Derived From Cross PostingsteemCreated with Sketch.

in OCD4 years ago

It's Official ..

I've been mulling over a decision on whether I liked the new Cross Posting feature, which allows me to post into multiple communities when using Steempeak. My answer is yes. I like this idea, except I still didn't feel right doing it. Why? I think my biggest issue with it lies in the fact that I, the poster and the community can make additional steem rewards on the link alone. Now, it would be nice to have the option to burn rewards from these link posts, because I would use that. I don't see that as an option yet.

For Now ..

I came to the decision that I will just take the total amount made off the link post and Burn the proceeds manually. So today I did just that.. Transfered 3.25 Steem to @null.

Any Advice ??

I would be interested to hear your thoughts or any advice you have on this topic. I am sure not everyone agrees with this method, but it's what I decided to do so I feel okay with cross posting.

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

I agree with you and suggested to steempeak to add a burn feature when crossposting:

Many will just want the additional visibility and especially if they have a lot of autovoters will more than happily burn part of the rewards of crossposting. Not to mention curators that want to share a post to the right community but don't feel comfortable doing so because the original post may have already received a lot of curation. It's on the author and curators to check the history of crossposting and if they want to reward it further. There's been a lot of authors already crossposting onto many different communities even though they receive a lot of autovotes on each of them and we don't encourage that here in OCD. We have yet to write our definitive stance on it while seeing how it progresses and if Steemit will add the crossposting feature as well.

YES! Awesome!! That would be great. I think for the privilege of being able to cross post, that there should be no rewards or all rewards go to null. In the perfect world, it would also be nice, for say someone like you who runs a community, to be able to toggle on or off cross posting into it. You decide whether or not cross posting occurs in your community. I really wish I could chose more than one community, say two, during the original posting.. But obviously I am not a developer and have not clue how that would foul things up. haha. Just saying.. In the perfect world. I already can see it coming.. the abuse from lazy morons.

Thanks @acidyo for the comment and support. I thought it best to post this to maybe sway a few others into just thinking about when and when not to do it.. now that I tested it and see how it works.

Have a fine rest of your Monday!!

This. It's why I cross post with new community accounts I made. But they get 0 visibility, so maybe I should resteem the crosspost with my main If I didn't author it.
Far from earning any rewards and asides from visibility, I just want at least 1 active post.

While of course this is all up to you, I do wonder where the distinction of “rewards you feel comfortable with” and “rewards you don’t feel comfortable with” lie. Each crosspost is an attempt to engage more people with your content. If new people see it and upvote it, why is that something to feel bad about?

I suppose that if they went directly to the post, now within two (or more) communities and voted the original post, I would be fine with it. Instead, I see people who follow me essentially voting twice on the same content. First they voted on the original post, then a second time on the link. This doesn't sit right with me and am sure that eventually it will piss someone off. I see the benefit in cross posting, but don't want to be labeled as greedy. There lies my mental battle. I am making more out of it than needs to be possibly..

Thanks for the reply @midlet! I appreciate the thoughts.. This way I can establish if I am over thinking this :-)

Pepper actually looks like he likes his glasses, any time I ever tried to put glasses on a dog or cat it was no way Jose are you getting me to wear those things. It was shake the head and run and hide. I am not sure yet on how the cross posting works, or if there is a way to deny payouts like on a regular post, sorry no help here, but Pepper's Pic needed a comment.

HAHAhahaha.. Thanks @bashadow! Pepper will be pleased that his fan base is growing. He's a good dog. One of the best at listening to me (sometimes). Not so good now that his hearing is all but gone. Usually if I say stay, he will sit and wait it out in hopes of a treat. He gets one so hes fine with the abuse.. lol. I also think that teaching him to balance a ball on his nose helps to keep anything else that I want to put there, stay until I take a picture.

Hope you having a decent Monday! :-D

I started 3 communities and made an account for each that I will ise to cross post about once a week (maybe more if they get really popular).
I just want am active post there all time and in some cases a relevant one.
I have a few rules.
If it is my post I will never upvote it with my account.
If it or the community account makes Steem, I'll give it away in community prizes/event or maybe burn it if that route fails.
I will not corsspost my stuff with my main account, maybe I will consider crossposting others' content if there is some special request.

It's a neat feature and better than a full recycle, but I think for kne's own content ~ a quality update (improve unless "perfect") with a link to the original is better.

So true and great idea @abitcoinskeptic. Giving steem away in a contest or as a prize is a great idea. I have to think about that one and figure something out. A contest of sorts would be nice.

THANKS for the advice!!

What are the names of your communities?

I have 3 now. Not sure where I'm going with them, but I have over 100 account tickets and spending 3 steem each on them doesn't really bother me.

KoreaGlobal - It's for non-korean language posts about korea or korean culture (I live there and write about it too much)

FAQ - Tutorials about Steem and a place for everyday questions (I like answering these and writing the odd post about it.

PepperHeads - just spicy food or hot peppers (fun one, willing to go anywhere with this really)

Hmmmmm.. Pepperheads may work for me. My one dogs name is Pepper, so I suppose I am a Pepperhead! 😉😆☺️
