I Suppose It’s Time For A WalksteemCreated with Sketch.

Pepper is good at letting me know..

When it is time for a walk. Every single night like clockwork, he parks his little butt in front of me, stares me down, then starts whining. He does this until I give in. Until I go over to his stuff and grab his harness and leash and walk him out the front door.

Here he is giving me those puppy eyes…

Here he is staring me down with a freakishly weird green fish animal photo bombing his time in the spotlight!

This is actually one of his favorite toys.

OK, we are off on our walk…

The first parts of the walk consist of him running ahead of me approximately 20 feet. He spots something to pee on..

He pees on the same stuff ..

I counted one time and I think it was 80 things along our walk that he Peed on. It’s only the first four or five that really he has enough urine to actually pee on. Maybe a drop comes out after that.

Then he runs ahead again ..

stopping only briefly and turning to make sure that I am close by. Then he darts ahead again Till he finds the next item that he wants to sniff and check out.

You coming Dad??!!

Occasionally ..

His hearing and sight is good enough that he picks up a noise or something moving. Here he is honing in on some sort of noise and movement in a yard.

He hears it but doesn’t quite see it just yet.

There It is!…

It’s a gray squirrel! Running through the leaves and grass, rustling about and perched on the edge of the tree ready to run up if pepper decides to go chasing. What the squirrel doesn’t know is that peppers more afraid of him. I don’t know what Pepper would actually do if the squirrel or anything else didn’t run away. He chased a cat once and when the cat stopped pepper turned around and went the other direction. He just doesn’t know what to do after that point, so he just turns around and goes about his business.

Today we saw something new ..

In our environment. They must be getting ready to do some Street work or repairs because the state put out flags To mark The underground utilities. Well it’s a little windy today so these flags are blowing and rustling about. they are making noise and flapping in the wind. Pepper has spotted them and first plays like he doesn't care.

That didn’t work ..

So we are on to Plan B, jump up and down, Growl, give it a muffled bark, and hope it runs away. That didn’t happen either, so I guess the flags win! He gave it a good try, I’ll give them that. It was cute enough to take a picture of. he grew board of their existence and decided it was time to finish his walk.

The walk is over ..

After about 3/4 of a mile to a mile, the walk is over. I don’t like to take him any further than that otherwise we run the risk of him getting sick. When he gets to active than his stomach gets upset. We have learned his limits over the last 13 years. We both got exercise we needed, and will look forward to tomorrow’s walk. As it’s getting darker earlier now, turning the clocks back, and me getting home when it’s getting dark, make it a bit more challenging to take him for a walk. With his hearing going, and his eyesight not that good anymore, he tends to be more skittish and scared of everything. But, we will survive. It’s not enough to make him not want to go.

Thanks for tuning in! Have a great evening!

Pepper!

You know, tonight i was about to go to a BBQ and my doge-pal was giving me the same sad eyes and I got closer to the door and because her magic charm works on me I decided to take her with me despite the fact that the place we were going to wasn't really a "dog friendly environment."

She behaved so well that i think i learned something today also. The only mischief that she got into was licking the hot chicken grease off of the drip pan from the grill and well, how can a doggo resist that?

By the way my dog suffers from the same upset stomach after "too much exercise" and I am happy to see that I am not the only one because i was getting worried.

Well, that is unless Pepper and Nadi (my doge) are FB friends or something and are simply performing a coordinated strike against both of us despite being on opposite sides of the planet.

Pepper and Nadi are FB friends or something and are simply performing a coordinated strike against both of us despite being on opposite sides of the planet.

I Love It! HAhahahahah.. I am also believing this is somehow true. That's It.. I am going to have to change the WiFi password again!!!! hehe.

I like that name, Nadi. It's one I have never heard before. It's always nice to hear a new name.. obviously my dogs have common names :-/

We can just about predict when Pepper will get sick in the middle of the night. Company comes over and he gets all riled up, then we go for a walk, then about 12:30/1am I hear a wet dogie blah and hustle to up and awake to find the nastiness. I am glad your not alone and a little less worried.

Pepper says to Nadi, "Save me some of that chicken drippins".. but of course Nadi already knew that.. hehe.
