A Moment To Enjoy The Beautiful Morning Is All I Needed
I Took A Few Moments Actually ..
Five minutes to be exact, on my way to work this morning, to enjoy the beauty by the lake. Coffee too.. definitly coffee! This particular lake is quite near to where I work and there is a quick and safe place to pull off the road. I saw the fog beginning to break up, so I thought why not.. I am running ahead of schedule. I took just a measly five minutes to snap off a few photographs with my iPhone. I took a few more desirable photos as well as a few that will kind of give you a sense of what this area is like. Not all of it I would call beautiful. Although, they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. don't 'They'?
This Is The Road Around The Lake ..
No stopping or standing, no jumping from the bridge, no fishing from the bridge, no swimming, etc... It's all posted here. Guard rails, power poles, signs, pavement, trash and other stuff is here and there, making it hard to capture photos without including one of these items.
This is the spill way. It washed out a few years back, after some terrible storms and a hurricane. They repaired it, but the road was closed for about a year and a half. Not super pretty, but it works I suppose, and that's what really matters. The water falling is sort of cool and kind of pretty.
On the other side of the road, the spill way is a little more industrial looking. What a typical very small dam would look like. Look at all those signs! WARNING!!! Just don't do anything and you'll be fine.. Wait! Is there a no photo policy stated here somewhere?? haha.. I see people swimming here all of the time. No one really care I think. It's pretty tame, as long as there is no storms close by, raising the water levels.
It forms a little pool area before heading out into the brush and forest. Lots of people loosing their fishing stuff too. I see at least 15 items of sorts hanging from the tree branches. Poor casters I guess. I picked up a bit of trash before I left this area. That kind of stuff ticks me off. How hard is it to walk it up to the trash can that sits about 15 feet away? Heck, they have to pass it on the way back to their cars!
Okay! Now For The Exciting Photography ..
Well maybe not exciting, but a bit more relaxing and pretty in my opinion. I took these shots looking out toward the lake and away from the spill way and road. The reeds, island, waters edge and those cat-o'-nine-tails make for some decent (rushed) pictures. I hear from some of my Australian friends, that these things are invasive and undesirable. I don't see them a whole lot around here, maybe because of the cold temps we get in the winter. This first shot is looking across the water to an island that sits just about in the middle of the lake.
Changed the zoom a little on this next one. You can see a little of whats left of this mornings fog. I see a few swans, ducks and geese here and there. They seem to far out to pick them up in the photographs.
What is a blog post from me without a little black and white thrown in?? I played around with a few of these shots. I think the black and white really changes the overall feel of the frames.
You Might Want To Scroll To The Bottom ..
If you don't like pictures of cat-o'-nine-tails, because I am about to get serious :-I
Haha.. no .. but I do have a few variations on the same photos. The original, a warm look and black and whites. They all speak differently to me in their own subtle or no so subtle ways.
Now for three more black and white shot, then I am done!
So There We Have It ..
A few shots on a not so nice day. Some of them good, others just okay. Either way, I made the most of my five minutes set aside for photography. I hope you found at least one that you may have thought was kind of cool. If not, that's okay too. It's always nice to share with you a little of what I see on a daily basis, as I do enjoy seeing the unique and interesting places that you post about and live near.
Well, off to do something great! Hope you are too!!!

About Me ~ The Artist
My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
cool and scarry (the hole) ;)
