World Wild Flora - Boletus edulis - a kingly mushroom to reckon with.

in #nature6 years ago (edited)

Common and yet relatively rare, populating the Northern Hemisphere, this species of Boletus of the Boletaceae family, is really a King in The Fungi Kingdom. In english called the Penny Bun, but in polish it's 'Borowik Szlachetny' what translates as ' The Noble One of The Old Forest '. It grows in the old oak, pine or birch - or as the other sources have it -' coniferous' forests of Europe and it is highly valued for it's culinary qualities. Not only edible, it takes the top place in rankings for it's taste and nutritional value in the european cuisine. Most of the recipies for soups, sauces, fillings and marinates goes back to the times of old. And when it gets to aesthetics - it is an admirable beauty! Have a look!
