Baking a sourdough carrot tray bread!

in #baking9 years ago (edited)

I wanted to do something else than the same basic bread all the time, so I made something special, as posting about baking rarely is not a good enough reason to bake the same bread over and over again.

I really wanted to give you a recipe today, but instead I'm showing you the process. I was too lazy to measure everything today, so I just threw in stuff according to my feelings.

Because even though you can always teach the basics to everyone, you cannot teach experience.

The finished bread, I put it in here to get a good looking preview picture.

The sourdough I started yesterday is now good, active and bubbly. The new "sourdough base" has been lifted into the fridge, so it will survive longer.

Add some carrot.

Flour and water in a very good ratio. I had to add more flour and still the dough was left a bit saggy

Mix mix mix mix mix until it's good. Took me around 17-20 minutes once again. I added some syrup, salt and oil at the end of mixing.

I left the dough to rise for few hours, as a sourdough without added yeast is a slow rising one.

And while waiting, I peeked into the delivery I got in the mail today. @suesa as an amazing person had sent my son some candy! I'm really thrilled, as I'll eat most of them anyway because he can taste some amazing candy not available in Finland!

And after the rest, the dough had grown quite well!

I poured the soft dough to the oven tray and put the oven to heat to 200 Celsius degrees.

After the baking, the bread was ready. It was really big, but in this form it is easy and handy to store.

And the first picture again. I think this was so pretty, it needs to be added twice.

Fun an easy with simple recipes, which can be found in my earlier posts, on books or in online recipes. Be bold to try something new (or old) and bake a bread today!

I'm not a big fan of cooking posts (I'll take a food pill when they finally get around to inventing them, thanks) but you actually make this sound like fun.

I was too lazy to measure everything today, so I just threw in stuff according to my feelings.

Spoken like a true engineer!
