Thoughts from a puppy feeding session
These puppies are barely 4 weeks old but most if not all of them, already have teeth and they bite their momma's tits too hard, making it unbearable for her to nurse them all at the same time. In fact, a few days ago she neglected them completely to the point where she didn't feed them even once during the whole day and night, and I wasn't able to make her do it.
But I did my homework and read a lot - of course, on the internet where its full of lies and deceit, asked my vet friends to confirm what I had to do.
So, since last sunday, I've been spending from one hour to one hour and a half in the garage where the puppy nest is located and, patiently make the puppies take turns to breastfeed. This means I have to have Fiona on my right side, and a box full of puppies wanting to get out on the other side; a chronometer ready to let each of them eat - two or three at a time, depending on which puppy it is - for ten minutes, intercalating them so there's never two new puppies beginning to feed at the same time (cause they start off too energetic, hungry and bitey for her to endure two starving puppies at once).
So here I am, one hand on Fiona's head scratching her ear and talking to her to keep her calm while the little dragons tear apart her tits, an elbow above the box trying to keep the whiny and loud remaining Satan's puppies from getting out, and that hand on my phone. I just posted OCD's latest comp, voted on some spanish OCD nominations, did some OCDB voting and now I'm writing a post - perhaps not my best post, but definitely a full of effort and inspiration freewrite.
There are a couple of surprises we have for you from OCD but we're still trying to get everything together before spewing out the information and risking it not coming to terms and failing, so I'm struggling to keep my mouth shut. I guess this little bait I'm mentioning is enough for me to be able to stay quiet for a few more days.
I need to go since the puppies are getting anxious and momma is getting tired. I know this post was short, but I wanted to update you with my puppies from hell status :)

Omigosh that is so much work! I'm glad mama has you on her side. Nursing twins was draining and so much work—I can't imagine having that many pups to take care of! At least dogs don't have to nurse for very long before the pups are weaned. Hope they're all healthy and doing well. Keep looking out for that sweet mama! :)
The vet said that this would happens since they are too many and she wouldn't be able to keep up with nursing all of them :( one of them is soooo small but still strong and happy.

ahhh Beautiful puppies, I think it is the first time that my eyes see that gray, gray-spotted fur pattern.
It's a hard job, but someone should help the mother :)
Sounds like hard work. I’ve always let mum do whatever she needs to with her babies but I’ve never had a mum with that many before 😳 glad you found some method that works.
They’ll be needing her less as they start eating more and then you’ll be looking forward to them moving to their new homes as if you think they’re rambunctious now just wait 🤣
And then they’ll move and you’ll miss the chaos 🤣

Hahaha it is an odyssey to have a command of hungry puppies and that the mother does not want to feed them because they hurt her, but it was very clever to do it in turn after they are older and you can give her food and they will not bother the mother so much as long as they grow up On the other hand, the community is excellent and I am curious how a publication can be nominated? and surely the new news from the community will be excellent and if I can somehow support them I am at the order hehehe
You are doing such great work with those puppies! I know the investment is a lot, but I applaud you for making it. While I read this I can see you multi-tasking, a computer perhaps placed in your lap, your back getting uncomfortable, your legs falling asleep, your wishing for a warmer cup of coffee. But babies must be fed, and Fiona I'm sure appreciates the help.
It's a great freewrite, and it's nice to see a freewrite make some money for a change.

Yes, I love puppies (and animals in general)! So if cuteness is shown, all else falls into oblivion LOL. No, not that shallow though. I always actually read your posts, so no worries there... Yeah, I know about the time, I once nursed 5 two week old kittens because their mother had gotten hit by a car. I was feeding them every 3 hours, had sleepless nights, and in the end they unfortunately still didn't make it. It was heartbreaking. I hope to never have to do that again...
