Each one begins life on a flower pin and takes about 5 minutes to make. Once you have all of these done, it's almost like end of cake making and onto the florist part of the class. I think what I found the most challenging was being able to squeeze the piping bag not too heavily such that the petals come out not as blotches. You also have to sweep the piping bag around the cone to make the layer of icing fairly thin like a real petal.
Experience comes into play because too thick and the weight can make the petal collapse, too thin, and it will crumble.
