Freewrite: sunset
I didn't know we had a wind-chime. Now, it's chiming like hell. The air was dead a minute ago.
Maybe it's one of the rats shaking the chime. No, it couldn't be a rat. How could a rat get up that high? It's not even windy in the trees.
The sun set a few hours ago. This is the only candle I could find. The torches are all dead. Did you want to go out and check with our only candle?
No, I'd better not. If it goes out, I don't know – how many matches do we have left?
We have some methylated spirits in the bathroom. You could douse a towel and wrap it around the broomstick. Tiki torch.
Sure. No, that's a bad idea. We should save the methylated spirits for cooking, if we need to cook later.
We have a few staples – dried soy, dried lentils, dried chickpeas, dried split peas. Fabulous. How long will it take to boil them?
I guess we'll just have to leave them in the water for a few days. Is the water still running? Great. What about the hot? Yes – looks like. Hey – the gas is working. Of course the gas is still working. Yes, for now. Do you think they pump it with electricity? It can't last forever.
We can cook some lentils, they should only take twenty minutes to boil.
It's so hot. I wish the fan worked.
Here, there's soda water in the fridge.
I don't know, I don't think we should open the fridge. We need to keep the cold preserved.
Is your phone out of juice?
This is a five-minute freewrite based on the prompt sunset.
Looks like you're ready for a tornado. Head to the bunker. Great story. Great job.
Yes, hehe. With a heatwave.
I'm really looking forward to the end of summer. The unrelenting heat is just too much. Can't sleep. Argh!!!
Oh, it's Summer for you? Where in the world are you? I'm in Canada, so it's Winter here. You can send us some of your heat, I'll gladly send you some snow ;)
Deal! I'm in Australia. I've never been in the snow. Do you go stir-crazy, not being able to go outside for so long?
Well, I personally can stay inside in the Winter and practically hibernate. Chores make me move around lol though I try to go outside when it's mild, and I go out when we need to go somewhere.
Frank on the other hand (my husband) likes doing activities outdoors. He goes skiing with the kids or toboganing,
I probably should go out more, but I don't feel stir crazy. When I need to, I go out. Heck, the other week I had an emotional flashback and I needed to walk off my rage. It was -30 lmao It did the trick, walked briskly and it sure cooled me off haha
I can't wait for Summer though. I love sunset walks and sunrise walks, or walking in the middle of the night. Though in the middle of the night, Frank is sleeping, but it's quiet, except for the sounds of nature.
I was thinking after an earthquake - but that’s the California in me talking.
That makes sense. I think one 40°C (100°F) day, everybody will be running their air conditioners, and we just won't be able to burn enough coal to cool down everyone's houses. And the power plants will explode! Well, maybe not.
This is really good. I can feel the emotion. Makes me think you've been in a similar situation. Maybe today's special prompt will bring some hope to these people.
