Coffee – Big Bang

I have a new coffee for you today. It is a Peet’s Coffee medium roast variety called Big Bang.

Upon opening the bag, I was impressed by the initial scent of the ground coffee. There was no harshness, just a strong coffee blast that was carried on through the brewing process. The aroma had a fullness with no hint of burnt toast which is evident with some darker coffees. The taste was as big as the scent. The rich flavor was very forward and continued through the aftertaste smoothly. Going with a wine comparison, the aftertaste was not dry, like a big red wine but more like a fruity white wine, maybe a nice pinot grigio. Very drinkable.

As I have said before, I do use sweetener and most recently I have been using honey. This selection with honey was yummy. The honey just added to the warm notes of the coffee and enhanced the smoothness. Now the coffee bag said this brand’s flavor profile had a vibrant blast of tropical fruit in a medium style. I definitely got the medium style for the roasting, not so much for the tropical fruit. That being said, I really liked this coffee and will definitely take advantage the next time I can get a good price.
