The name Advent comes from the Latin "adventus" and means "arrival". In the 5th century Advent was celebrated for the first time in the area around Ravenna in Italy.

The Advent wreath was invented in 1839 in Protestant northern Germany. A wreath of fir green and four candles decorate many apartments in the pre-Christmas period, a beautiful tradition.
Der Adventskranz wurde 1839 im protestantischen Norddeutschland erfunden. Ein Kranz aus Tannengrün und vier Kerzen schmücken viele Wohnungen in der Vorweihnachtszeit, eine schöne Tradition.
In Switzerland are know approximately 5000 species of mushrooms. For most mushroom species, the season begins in summer and lasts until the first frost in autumn.
Fruit and vegetables are imported annually to Switzerland for approximately 1.7 billion Swiss francs.
