MY THIRD MURDER
If you missed my first and second murder, you should probably read it before seeing the third act.

Mr. Badmus' son wasn't part of my list. In fact, the corrupt man would have been the only victim, but like I said, life had its plan too. I killed the commissioner of police and the son of one of the powerful men in the city. It made me the most wanted in Deverland, but I still managed to escape. I didn't plan to commit suicide in this city. I just needed a place to write my letters successfully. One more day in Deverland would have been my end. I'm not justifying what I did though. The people in my city just need to know why I did the terrible things that made me popular.
The young policeman that took the phone went into the station and came out three minutes later. He looked around to see if anyone was watching. I believed he was hoping to see me. The way he held his gun showed he was at alert to shoot anyone who dared to cross his path. All I could think of was retrieving the phone. It was the only thing I had to make the people see Mr. Badmus for who he was. A car packed outside the police station minutes later. Three men were in it, but I was able to recognize only one of them. The driver was the factory's driver. He had drove me and my dad to his place of work countless times. One of the men spoke with the young policeman, and I could swear I saw them exchange things.
I was determined to kill the policeman right there, so I removed my knife from my back pocket and placed it in my right sleeve. He wouldn't see the knife coming until it slit his throat. I was putting on a cardigan with a hood. It did well to conceal my identity, but I didn't know I was walking into a trap. I'd already left my initial position and hid somewhere close to the station. I waited for the men to round up their discussion and drive away before making my move. That opportunity never presented itself because I was caught unawares by someone. Everything went blank at that moment.
I woke up in a dark room tied to a chair. I could feel the emptiness in my pockets, but my knife was still where it is. I wouldn't have been tied with a rope if my abductor remembered I'm the knife man. He actually did, but he was just careless. Sometimes, the weak wins because the strong underestimates them. The front door opened, and the same policeman I wanted to kill walked in.
"Mr. Badmus will be here soon," he said.
Meeting the evil man was what I wanted, but I was very scared at the mention of his name at that moment. The policeman kept pacing around and whistling and it infuriated me more. He later stopped the nonsense and squatted in front of me. Meanwhile, I had cut the rope with the knife I had. If he wasn't so bent on making me scared by staring at me fiercely, he would have noticed the rope.
"Where's your knife, boy? An unloaded gun is your next weapon?"
"Why are you doing this?" I asked him. I wanted to be sure I'd be killing him for the right reasons. What he said decided his fate, and I didn't regret taking him out.
"I'll be one million naira richer in few hours," he smiled. I made sure it was the last thing he said by slitting his throat. I was fast and he died instantly. I did what every wise man would do by taking his gun and finding my way out, but there were three other guys outside. One was putting on a police uniform while the other two looked like touts. I could have killed all three with the gun, but I threatened them instead. They raised up their hands and pleaded for their lives. After making them throw their weapons in a nearby bush, I ran.
Again, the death of Mr. Badmus was postponed.
To be continued.
