Did you know that the name giraffe most probably originates from the Arabic name for the animal: 'zaraafa'? This beautiful ancient-looking animals mostly live in herds, that consist of females and their offspring.
When a male giraffe reaches adulthood they leave the heard and spend the rest of their life alone, except for the mating season.
Male giraffes only form herds while young. These groups give them the opportunity to try out their strength, something that will benefit them later in their lives when looking for mates.
Not sure what gender these two here are, but they sure look like best buddies, sharing their food and all....
