The Youtube Subreddit is a failing pile of garbage

in #youtube5 years ago

Hello everyone,

This article is going to present an example of what awaits us all on a wide scale. I intend to present it in an inconspicuous manner without fanfare. I want to ensure that there are timestamped traces to provide beacons for the future. I know eventually that there will be those who will come and look further into this.

Today is fucked. Today has soft power written over almost every single action made online and what could become viral. And I want to acknowledge the nature of oppressive virality which is more and more dictating what is viral and how many more boots must be licked for some superficial appeasement.

It is not my sole journey to take a course of action such as this. If it will be only me who takes it then it is likely all will fail. All forthcoming and all yet to come.

There is nothing else to add as an introductory statement for what I'm intending to convey here. There is no purpose to fueling a seven day outrage narrative by being flowery & journalistic with this. This is a dump of shit. No answer is suggested.

THEY DO IT FOR FREE

NO MONEY

Never ever ever lick the boots of a major player in the social media oligopoly. There is always someone begging to lick it for less and willing to sell more of their integrity to do get the opportunity to do so.

It's a special type of scorn to feel when TeamYoutube shuns you. Can't blame them as I can see how thrashed their twitter account is getting and my lil tweet got drowned out. When I came back the next day with the specifics to let them know what's happening in detail, I received no response :(

Bit sad if that was all one could do to communicate to them. There's many other ways, so I'm not sadsack over this!

Here is what I submitted:

Hi @TeamYoutube.

Thanks for responding to my tweet. I reached out because I considered it important that one platform Youtube and it’s trusted flaggers utilize is not operating like Youtube does on another. The one I am talking about is r/youtube and as my tweet to you illustrated, these two platforms look like they are now working against each other!

A few weeks ago, the main moderator of r/youtube (u/LightCodeGaming) introduced a draconian and what looks to be a purposefully vague set of rules for the Youtube subreddit. I was banned quickly after its introduction. Screencaps will be provided below of our full direct message conversations, and the conversation I had with the r/youtube mod team (which only u/Lightcodegaming spoke in).

My ‘appeal’ to u/LightCodeGaming and the rest of the Mod team wasn't addressed or attempted to be resolved. I do not feel my conduct on the r/youtube subreddit broke the ambivalent rule set LightCodeGaming recently introduced. And if it did, my sharp questions regarding the almost megalomanic censure that followed the introduction of the rule set were always rebuffed then ignored. I was never given a satisfactory explanation for my “hateful” remark to him and I am now being labelled as an user of hate.

Considering the overwhelming amount of negative commentary Youtube’s subreddit received and how laboriously LightCodeGaming attends to moderating & censoring such comments, I became stubbornly set to holding LightCodeGaming’s conduct to account or at least have him explain why he conducts himself as such.

This is Oppression. Flexin that soft power to make you cower.

  • My first attempt at seeking clarification for the ban.

Imgur

  • This is being persistent.

Nothing.

LightCodeGaming stopped responding to me so he could get back to deleting all sorts of valid commentary on his sub. I can't blame him for this because LightCode likes to think he is a human version of the almighty Youtube censorship algorithm.

And thinking like this makes him act too hastily and empassioned. When that rush of power hits the adrenal glands and you get to flex your trusted flagginess.

The heat of the moment can lead to an overspill of emotion. It's true, so let's forgive and forget.

No?

Let's try the mod team of r/youtube

  • The next day I tried another avenue to seek an explanation and/or unbanning from.

  • I am a user of hate. I am guilty of baiting to hate? This doesn't seem to be going well.

No response from the mod team. Only LightGunGaming making up his own foolhardy interpretations of r/Youtube's new rules. Then the usual yellow-bellied slithering away into silence.... I guess that this is how it's gonna be. He's acting like a Nazi and and and...

He doesn't like me...

I had to find other redditor's experiences with Trusted Flaggers and Youtubes' volunteer managed social media customer service kiosks. This was a desperate situation as I had to get LightGunGaming to like me again. I dug deep into the archives of reddit.

My prayers are answered and I find this amazing thread below:

🆒🆒

Wow! There's more to come and Flustered Flagger can not halt it! Wow! 🆒

❓ Is there more to come ❓
