Gratitude Challenge ONE: She makes it all worth it!
The reason for gratitude in my soul, the one that makes me whole!
My life started the moment she took her first breathe, it was as if a fire was lit inside my soul. I've always been astonished how small I am compared to the universe and the greater unknown, how being so small I still felt an undeniable purpose was to be fulfilled in this world through me, in that moment in the delivery room and every moment after I have felt like she was it.
She is the reason for my creation, the purpose of my life was to give her hers. This last year and a half has been the most joyous, wonderful, and meaningful of my ENTIRE life while simultaneously being the hardest, most challenging, sleep deprived, time warped experience I have ever been through.
There are so many distractions in our busy life it is so easy to get carried away from the moment into reflections of the past or thoughts of the future. I make her my concentration of the present and try to always remember no matter what I'm doing during that moment that it is all made worth it just by her being here. I want to soak up every second I am blessed to have her in my life and am so glad to be able to be with her day in and day out.
She keeps me awake throughout the night, wakes me up early each morning, eats more times than I ever thought could, goes to the bathroom more than anyone I know, BUT THAT FACE SET MY HEART A BLAZE, and gives me a feeling of love and completeness I have never felt before.
All day I work to make a difference in our home, to have a connection by providing an alternative to the current normal fast food lifestyle of today to the days of old where you grow your own food on your own land, and spend time researching and learning new hobbies, techniques, and trades that make us more self sufficient. All of this is done in hopes that she will grow up in a future that we are helping shape for her.
So while I'm overwhelmed, overworked, tired, hangry, sore, sweaty, smelly, upset, busy feeding/watering/cleaning/cooking, or rocking her to sleep for the 10th time of the evening, I look at her face and into her eyes getting lost in the moment while my heart recharges with love so pure it makes my heart feel as if it would explode.
