A new year, a new me!

Hey there Stemians, what's up?
First, an apology. I have disappeared from steemit lately and indeed from most social media.
These past few weeks have not been easy..
Moving to Portugal is a dream that we have been building towards for the last 3+ years. As is always the case with dreams, especially long term ones, they aren't ever quite as we imagined them to be.
This is perfectly fine and predictable, and I indeed knew that this first winter, away from everything we knew, but still not feeling part of our new environment, would be a challenging one to say the least..
But on top of everything else, i.e. the unknown surroundings, not knowing people, not speaking the language, being tied up with bureaucracy, being away from family etc.. These past few weeks have been exceptionally difficult, as Tao (our 9mo son) has started teething, and therefore was waking up every two hours on average.. This led to us both being exhausted in the morning (a most common and normal occurrence for new parents), and starting the day with very little patience for, or understanding of each other.
I believe in our 5 years together, we have never argued as much as we have these past few weeks..
I’m sharing this because, although it’s never fun to share the bad things, I want this project to be open source, completely transparent, and that starts with me. My personal insecurities and fears, my shortcomings and faults. If I'm too ashamed to share my faults now, how will I share the community's challenges, and failures, so that I and others can learn from them..?

Having said all that, although I would like to blame my absence entirely on my personal relationship and the hardships thereof, I know that isn't entirely true. A more exciting, and positive reason for my absence (cause let’s not get too depressing here..) I have begun to rethink my approach to my online content, on steemit and otherwise, and therefore took a break from uploading to restructure. And what I’ve come up with is this;
After encouragement and even financial support from my fellow stemians eco-alex and revisesociology , I have decided, (based on little understanding of the subject at large,) to only upload original content from now on (as in no crossover), and to upload it to 3speak.

I will still be making videos for our YouTube channel (sorry to all who I offend for this, but) I think these two platforms are very different, and instead of uploading the same videos to both, I would like to try something new.

Over the last 6 years or so, I have toyed with the idea and even made a few podcasts. On various subjects, and various platforms, I have had several starts, but none has really caught on. So, I have decided to put everything I have learned, into making a weekly podcast, on 3speak, which will cover various subjects regarding my personal theory around the ecoVillage (for those who don’t know about the ecoVillage, eco-alex has been posting about it for the last two years.)
I must say that although eco-alex and myself are joining forces, as of yet there are still some minor differences in our personal fantasies (fantasies, since reality is always different than ideas). I would like to share my personal vision for the ecoVillage we are beginning to work on here.
So, if that is something that might interest you, or if you have any questions, or something you would like to hear about. Let me know, either via the comments here or shoot me a message.
The scheduling will be Monday evening, I will update as to exact time in a later post.
(For those who are interested, I will be uploading weekly videos to YouTube, and a monthly live stream about the practical theory (yes, it’s a thing) behind the ecoVillage and our homestead.)

If you’ve read this far, thank you! It is much appreciated. If you want to know about the podcast make sure to follow me here.
And if you’d like to follow me on youtube (“infidel!”) here’s the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4z4VnmnV35GZLoqX0HkhUg
Much love and respect to all you content providers and partakers. Have a glorious weekend, and here’s to a new year for all of us!

It never rains but it pours!

It takes several months to settle somewhere new, and when your toddler isn't settling, well that's far from ideal.

Glad to see you back, I look forward to the new content. Less is more I think, and one depth-post/ video a week I think is a good approach! 3speak is pretty smooth, I've tested it out myself!

I look forward to the new content, happy 2020!

Sitting here in Thailand HUMBLED by your transparent approach. Perhaps only a single mom can really know the fatigue you speak of, and the fractious ripples it creates. My mom self sends you both all the love and patience in the world. As a solo mom having raised my child in Thailand with no real family or community supports, please know you may always blurt to me and you will most likely always be heard and understood. it is quite the journey!

I have also just started on @3speak at @eco-alex's suggestion, and so far found it to be smooth, easy and more profitable than many 'plain' posts - have only done 2 so can't say that for sure yet. :)

I agree the youtube audience is quite different, and applaud your plan for original content on both. Subscribing on youtube, and here to follow you with bells on.

Hugs to you from Chiang Mai. Appreciating the update.

Wow.... Thank you so much! Your words touched both me and my wife deeply.. Yes, it is not easy, but it is also temporary, and so we carry on.
Great to hear about your journey to 3speak as well, just checking it out now.. Although I'm running into some technical difficulties with the live streaming, but hopefully will sort it out by Monday..
Again, thx so much for the support and for your generous offer, have a wonderful weekend. All the best to you both.

I think it's a reasonable approach, especially for someone busy with all kinds of things, to focus on a video or podcast once a week rather than many blog entries. The same is true for your audience, especially if they are like you, constantly busy with all kinds of things, as I know I will be. It'll be nice to have an hour so every week that I can look forward to, and set some time aside to really focus and listen to you. The part about the transparency you mention, I think is fantastic. Such a great approach!

Ah! The trials of being new parents in a new country! Sorry to hear there has been so much difficulties but I am glad you see them for what they are and are moving forward!
Looking forward to your new podcast on 3Speak Just went over to follow you there!
