100 Word Story Contest: Huitzilopochtli
I just saw this contest to write a story with 100 words, so I rewrote a small text I had made in Danish, moved it to the US where it got some strange extra layers of currentness. It's not really meant to be political but the transformation made it a bit so in an ambiguous way.
So here it is:
Huitzilopochtli is his name. Not a bad name. But in Widerdale, Wisconsin it is a bit off. Not that people are unfriendly – on the contrary. But there is a wall there. He gets this sensation inside his body: being different.
They do of course pretend that he is one of them, smalltalks about children, cars. Pretends not to see his long fangs, his claws, the face growing out of his stomach. His lust for blood. To them it is enough that he has lived here for seven years. That he has rebuilt the old grocer store. The call him grocer-Huizil.
That is just wonderful!
