The zombie apocalypse may be around the corner, but that doesn’t mean you should wait until it’s too late to prepare. Whether you believe the zombie apocalypse will start in your lifetime or not, making sure you have food, water and shelter already stocked away will keep you safe while also allowing you to help other survivors as they find their way through this disastrous time. To help you prepare, here are 10 ways to get started on stockpiling your survival supplies now so that when the zombies come, you’re ready to fight them off with ease.

  1. Have a bug out bag ready
Create a bug-out bag with items that will help keep you alive in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Here are some things you may need: food, water, first aid kit, matches and lighter, knife, flashlight.

  2. Learn survival skills
The zombie apocalypse is bound to happen sooner or later. You never know when it will happen, so it’s best to be prepared for any eventuality. Get up-to-date on survival skills such as fishing and cooking over an open fire. Familiarize yourself with how to use weapons like swords, knives and bows and arrows in case you’re attacked by zombies head on. Stock up on food and water — these items may be scarce after the apocalypse begins if people panic.

  3. Stockpile supplies
The first thing you should do is stockpile supplies. Collect water and food that will last for at least a week for each person in your family. Be sure to include extra bottled water, canned foods, dried foods, fruits and vegetables and other non-perishable items like batteries and flashlights. If you have room, store them in the basement or attic so that they are safe from any natural disasters like hurricanes or tornadoes. You should also prepare some weapons for self-defense.

  4. Have a plan
It’s important not to get caught off guard if your plan A doesn’t work out. What’s plan B, and C, and D? If you don’t have a back-up plan, it’s time to start thinking about what you would do in an emergency.

  5. Stay informed
In order to stay informed and make sure you’re prepared. Learn about zombies, what they eat, and how to kill them. Figure out a zombie escape plan for your home, work, and school or daycare center.

  6. Be prepared mentally and emotionally
You’re never going to be 100% prepared for something like the zombie apocalypse, but there are a few things you can do in order to prepare mentally and emotionally. 1. Learn how to protect yourself: Take a self-defense class with your kids or at least learn how to defend yourself with items around your house. 2. Become prepared for disaster: Make sure you have emergency food and water supplies on hand, as well as important documents such as insurance papers, passports and birth certificates.

  7. Stay in shape
It is important that you stay in shape in order to be able to survive an apocalypse. That means running, lifting weights, doing sit-ups, etc. So take a few minutes every day to do something active!
This might sound like a lot of work, but it will make a big difference when it comes time for zombies to come and attack your home!

  8. Be aware of your surroundings
    Keep your eyes open.
Make sure all doors and windows are locked at all times, no matter what time of day or night it is.
Know what weapons you have available, and know how to use them (buy some pepper spray and a taser).

  9. Be prepared to defend yourself
The zombie apocalypse can start any day now, so it’s important to be prepared. Zombies are people too, and they will come after us in droves if they want what we have. Be ready for anything with this list of ten ways to prepare!
