Zilliqa (ZIL) - What is it and should I invest?

A few days ago my attention was turned to Zilliqa by a friend. Not knowing much about the coin I thought I had better do some due diligence to see what it was and whether it was worth throwing a few $$ at.
Zilliqa only launched at the start of the year in January, after the ICO which began on the 27th of December, 2017. The ERC20 token is based around sharding technology to help expand networks and increase scalability.

Zilliqa has found favour mainly in the financial industry, which demands large scalability. Zilliqa announced a partnership with Singapore based insurance company Dellotie and FWD to test run insurance services on blockchain technology. Over the next 12 months the token will undergo an extensive pilot phase to work out any bugs and issues with the technology.
If successful, this technology could be opened up to insurance companies around the world, potentially increasing the value of Zilliqa significantly.
Zilliqa was also recently added to the Koinex and GOPAX exchanges, increasing its availability across exchanges. The greatest volume of ZIL is traded through the Binance and Huobi exchanges.
This is a project that has sparked my interest and one I will be keeping an eye on.
