Zen Colouring Contest #4
Here is my entry for this week:
I made it as follows:
Step 1: I saturated a watercolour page with strong colour.
Step 2: While the page was still wet, I sprinkled salt over the page. The salt melted at places, creating texture. This is the result:
Step 3: Then I printed the mandala on the page. You guessed it: you can even print on a strongly coloured watercolour page.
Step 4: I outlined the entire mandala with a silver pen.
Step 5: I filled the mandala with colour, using glitter gel pens and Sharpies, and added some shading.
Step 6: I added three lavender flowers from my garden and scanned the end product - the first picture on this page.
Just for the sake of interest, I tried another one first, but I was not too happy with the result.
I hope you enjoy!
This is really a great piece of artwork. Next time when you post it, do not forget to add #artzone tag and receive an upvote from this bot.
Nice. Very creative with the salt and all. Good Luck!
This looks so dreamy, it reminds me of a dreamcatcher tbh. Thank you for sharing how you coloured it, for beginners like me this is valuable lesson.
Thanks! I love experimenting. I also got the feeling of a dreamcatcher. In fact, I will at some point see how I can do that with a mandala. Perhaps something on glass...
That would be interesting, I have never painted on glass before so I will be looking out for your post on that.
