Making a drawing from scratch is usually quite a hard job, but coloring someone else's drawing also takes a lot of work, but it's fun!

Today I want to present my participation for the Zen Colouring Contest #22 promoted by @magiccleatus, and although the contest closed a few minutes ago, I want to share with you the coloring I have done, since this is my first time coloring someone else's drawing.

The template given for this week, was of some dolphins quite ornate and with many stripes to color. In addition, the main color palette should be composed of black and the tones derived from it.

So I've started to work, with the help of Autodesk Sketchbook and a little patience I'm able to color this great template.

Since I had to use the shades derived from black, I used gray as the base, as it is the characteristic tone of the dolphins.

Then I wanted to establish a little light entry and as it reflects on your skin, I also sought to obtain a chrome metal effect, but without making it so perfect.

Once I had already captured this effect in each dolphin, I proceeded to integrate some colors other than black.
Taking advantage of the number of dolphins, I wanted to capture in them a somewhat original idea, and that is that I have turned each of them into a reflection of each of nature's main elements, having blue for the water, green for the earth, white for the air and finally red for the fire. Getting this way the combination of the 4 main elements in these wonderful dolphins that I suppose are swimming in complete harmony.

To finish and enhance this illustration, I drew a background, which follows the idea of the 4 elements using their representative colors, and since I have a focus of light on the dolphins, it is appropriate to add the shadow they leave behind, giving them a very cool levitation effect.

I hope to be on time for my participation in the next week of the contest, so I would like to propose the violet color for this next edition, this is a very cheerful and dynamic color.

This is beautiful! I love the effort and inspiration that went into this! The 4 elements are totally visible and the chrome effect works really well. The levitating shadow effect is a really nice touch too!

Welcome to the #zencolouringcontest, thanks for your entry!
