He was driving at a fair lick when he hit her, but it was her own fault he told himself, sure she came out of nowhere. With no apparent witnesses or cameras to give him pause, he sped off again with hardly a backward glance.

An all too common story.
Oh dear, evades police questioning and then confesses to a reporter. You couldn't make it up.
Finger on the pulse.. happening all too often around the world.. if people think they will get away with it, they are capable of the most abhorrent behaviour.. How many times had it happened, where the injured person may have survived has they thought of someone other than themselves.. Good job shining the spotlight on this..
