Not too long ago I decided to make the switch to tubeless. I was very hesitant about converting since I have only ridden on tubes since I was a kid. Oh, the memories of tubes covered in duct tape and super glue. Those were the days. Now I am older and there's new things to try. What really made me want to go tubeless was the first time I went out to my first real trail. The trails around here in San Diego are pretty rocky and chunky. I managed to get 4 pinch flats on my rear tire. I felt so bad for the people I was riding with. They had to sit and wait for me to fix it every single time.

Right after that trail I went to my local bike shop. Once there, one of the bike techs told me that they have had a very reliable experience with the Orange Seal. So I gave it a shot. I bought the sealant plus a new rear tire since the last one had several gashes. When I finally made it home i tore the old tubes out and put the sealant in. The first ride was a little weird since I new I had no tubes in my tires. I felt like a real mountain biker finally. I was able to ride for about a month before I had another puncture.

Over the weekend, my back tire received a pretty good sized puncture. After going down a hill I heard the dreaded hissing sounds and my heart sank. Luckily I remembered I had my tire sealant in. The hole didn't want to seal at first which was a little concerning. I pulled over flipped my bike around, and took a look at what was going on. Turns out the was a bunch of dirt clogging the sealant from doing its job. I cleaned the puncture spot with some water, turned the tire upside down so that the sealant would be at the bottom with the puncture, and in about a minute or so it was ready to go. I totally thought this wouldn't work and it really surprised me. This stuff works great! If you haven't converted to tubeless yet definitely do it! It's worth it!
