I think self- promotion is actually harder than writing content because it requires a certain amount of tact in addition to a commitment of time. Still needs to be done though and it's great that there are tools available to help and people willing to share how they did it!
Yes, that is true. It is tough to do well and it must be done if you want to share your content.
