Reflection of the Warrior Pose

in #yoga6 years ago (edited)

One aspect of yoga that fueled my inspiration in the early days is how we have the possibility to embody so many aspects of nature: tree, lotus, child, warrior, crow, locust, dancer, sage, etc.

When we tap into the depth of the practice, we can experience the energy and consciousness of all of these, and connect to a deeper sense of unification. From that point, we can expand our thinking and reflect on the nature of life and reality to access a deeper understanding of what the yoga practice is teaching us. Every organic being is needed for creation to flow in a healthy way. And today I want to salute the warriors of this world.

There is much talk about 'releasing resistance' these days, since everyone wishes to be more flexible. Yet, resistance is necessary on the mat to protect our body from injury, just as it is necessary in life to protect our consciousness and our collective from injury.

There is much abuse and corruption in this world, and this is perpetuated because it's accepted as a normal part of life. This is something that I never looked at, and never questioned until I was challenged to look into what I was actually accepting and supporting with my energy and my thoughts.

Cleansing doesn't stop at the physical level - to cleanse our thoughts, we must first understand that they are truly impact-full, and that they contribute to shape the world we live in.

We have collectively been programmed to give much of our attention, money and power to corruption, which exists everywhere in society. But to come to the realization and understanding of what we need to realign within ourselves, we must first be open to what the warriors of this world have to say. By warriors, I am referring to all of the individuals who invest their time and energy - out of love for humanity - to track down, research and expose corrupted practices and individuals. More often then not, they are labelled as 'negative' people, because they indeed expose the ugliness and negativity of this world, so that we can choose to stop supporting these people or organisations with our love, attention, admiration, money or else, and redirect this energy to our collective family instead, where healing and support is needed.

So I challenge everyone who reads this post to truly explore what it means to be a warrior, and start researching what we collectively need to resist to protect ourselves, and to end abuse and corruption. I recommend looking into Chela Colley and Lindsey Elocin Hooper's youtube channels, as well as a brand new one that was just launched yesterday by Skyla CD,all from the Create Disclosure community. But as with anything else, never believe anything anyone says - the last thing we need in this world is more belief systems. Instead, do your thorough research and find out the facts. Lies will die. The truth always remains.

It's time to collectively heal.

Awesome post! I like that you said "resistance is necessary." It's something to acknowledge and lean into.

Thank you Stephen! And I should add - action is necessary too! Most people I engaged about corruption nod and move on, as if it was just empty words. Yet, there is real abuse going on, and people all accept it as a normal part of everyday life. We need to step up collectively to expose abusive people, and protect each other - reconnect to the true values of human family.
