XYO Network: Blockchain Based Location Verification

Location detection is one of the most important inventions in our history. Position systems, which were used in military fields for the first time, are now used in many areas of our lives. For locating, some developed countries are using their own satellites and making the lead of this technology. There are a few system for finding location such as GPS , Glonass, Galileo and BeiDou. Among them, the GPS system ,developed by the United States government , is the most widely used position system in the world. The integration of GPS into mobile phones and the availability of GPS in almost every phone have increased the demand for location applications.

Popular applications such as Pokemon GO, Ingress, Runtastic, Endomondo, Sports Tracker, Swarm, FourSquare have emerged. Moreover, the demand of vehicle tracking systems has increased considerably in recent years. Most of these location-based applications use traditional methods for location services. They keep the data they receive from the GPS in a central database.However, keeping the location information in the central database causes problems like security and cyber attack and especially privacy matters.

The XYO Network project offers a decentralized, reliable and confidential solution to solve these problems. XYO Network uses Beacon technology with GPS. Beacon; is a location-based interaction technology that uses Bluetooth technology. The XYO Network project is basically composed of four parts:

Sentinels
It takes the location data and transmits it to “Bridges”.
Bridges
It receives location information from “Sentinels” and transmits it to “Archivists”.
Archivist
It takes position from “Bridges” and keeps data for “Diviners”.
Diviners
It responds to questions by analyzing the data stored by “Archivists”.
Beacons passively transmit signals and transmit specific messages depending on distance. The main distinguishing feature of the project is that the XYO Network allows us to find anything or person we want through the beacons and their Protocol. With more than 1 million locations in the world right now, XYO is the blockchain’s first crypto location project which is an Oracle network. XYO Network enables developers and smart contract creators to interact with the real world like an API.
