New confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths in Illinois by day

Illinois saw a total of 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus between Jan. 24 and March 8, when the number of cases began to pick up. The state's first death due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, was reported on March 16.
